Miss Ninnie ~alker is cnrreatly servin~ <br /> /n this capacity and may be reappointed should you so desire. Your Title <br /> III Project Director, Mrs. Frances B. LonE, and Title VII Project Director, <br /> Ms. Sue Archer, are also good sources to tap for suggestions of persons <br /> who might make good representatives. ~ny person nominated should be <br /> contacted first to assure that they are willing to serve in this important <br /> role. <br /> <br /> As you may know, the Region F Aging Advisory Committee consists of eighteen <br /> members who meet bi-monthly to advise the Area Agency on AgfnE staff and the <br /> Executive Board of the Centraltna Council of Governments on matters relating <br /> to services for older persons in ~abarrus, Gaston~ Iredell~ Lincoln, <br /> MecklenburE~ Rowan, Stanly and Union Counties. The A§ing Advisory Committee <br /> is involved in Area Agency activities in many ways as depicted in the attached <br /> Exhibit from the Area Plan for Fiscal Year 1979. <br /> <br /> Four persons from MecklenburE County and two persons from the remaininE seven <br /> counties are: appointed to the Committee for two year terms. The County <br /> Commissioners and the Council on Aging each make one appointment. In <br /> Mecklenbur§ County~ however, they each make two appointments. Terms run <br /> concurrent with the fiscal year heginnin§ October 1. The two year terms of <br /> County Co~mlssioner's appointees begin in October of even numbered years. <br /> The two year terms of Council on Agin§ appointees begin in October of odd <br /> <br /> The Advisory Committee was established to comply with Federal Regulations <br /> which requires that 50% (nine members) o~ the Committee be actual older ($0+) <br /> consumers of services. Furthermore, older (60+) minority older persons must <br /> be represented on the Committee in the same proportion as they exist in the <br /> general population. In ReEion F this re§ulation means that three Ag/ng <br /> Advisory Committee members must be minority older persons. In this regard~ <br /> your nomination of 60+ and minority persons is especially encouraged. <br /> <br /> <br />
