The State intends to merge the Title III (services) and Title VII (nutrition) <br /> programs next year. At a minimum this means that nutrition programs must <br /> be included in the Annual Area Plan for Aging dee to the State in July 1979, <br /> and that the COG staff will be engaged in monitoring the program next year. <br /> There are a variety of other ways or levels the COG staff may become involved <br /> in the nutrition program~ which will be' up to local government. The Aging , <br /> staff will be contacting Managers to analyze the potential effects of this <br /> change. <br /> <br /> The initial due date of September 15, 1978 for applications for local Focal <br /> Point Funding has passed. Applications will still be accepted up until <br /> November 15, 1978. Our office is ~vailabl~ for technical assistance in <br /> this area. <br /> <br /> Fmm~l~ Plannin8 <br /> <br /> We have just received COG's contract with DHS. As soon as it is executed, <br /> subcontracts will be drawn up with the Counties. <br /> <br /> The following training is or will be provided to county family planning <br /> staffs in October and November 1978: <br /> <br /> (1) Expanded Role Course for OB and Family Planning Public Health Nurses <br /> at UNCC (currently in process). <br /> <br /> (2) FPAC - New Consumers - Orientation - 10/17/78 <br /> <br /> (3) R~gional Health Department Staff~ - 2 day Workshop 10/23 ~ 24/78 on <br /> the Patient Information System. <br /> <br /> (4) FPAC Cozmmunieations Workshop in November 1978. <br /> <br />All first quarter FY 78-79 Expenditure Reports are due by 10/20/78. Where <br />possible, the staff would like the County ~nager~s assistance and support <br />in getting the reports submitted by the County~ to avoid confusion on late <br />payments. <br /> <br />Title ~X and Social Planning <br /> <br />The Human Service Director and Title XX Planner have been primarily involved <br />in sampling DSS records to establish the present demand and cost of Title <br />XX services in Mecklenburg and Rowan Counties. When completed, this analysis <br />should allow the Counties to better envision the potential affect of cutbacks <br />or changes in the States allocation of these funds for next year. <br /> <br />I~ it proves valuable, the staff will offer this assistance to other interested <br />Counties. <br /> <br />~npower <br />Sta~ c0nt~nued work on the Evaluation of FY 77 during September, contacting <br />participants for the Impact Study. Additional participants were located <br />through new addresses obtained from local Ese offices. Others were reached <br /> <br /> <br />
