Miss Minnie Walker is currently serving <br /> ~pacity and may be reappointed should y~-fi-~so desire. Your Title <br /> III Project Director, Mrs. Franceg B. Long, and Title VII Project Director, <br /> bls. Sue Archer, are also good sources to tap for suggestions o~ persons <br /> who might make good representatives. Any person nominated should be <br /> contacted first ~o assure that they ace willing to serve ~n this important <br /> role. <br /> <br />As you may know, the Region F Aging Advisory Committee consists of e~teen <br />members who me~c bi-monthly to advise tile Area Agency on Aging staff and the <br />-~-f~tive B----B-0-~ of the Centralina Council of Governments on matters relating <br />to services for older persons in Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, <br />Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly and Union Counties. Tile Aging Advisory Committee <br />is involved in Area Agency activities in many ways as depicted in the attached <br />Exhibit from the Area Plan for Fiscal Year 1979. <br /> <br />Four persons from blecklenbur~County and tw__o__persons from the remainin, g~even <br />~unties are. app. einted to the Committee for two year terms. ~.~ County <br />~ an~ t~e Council on Aging each make one appointment. In <br />Mecklenburg County~ however, they each make cwo appointments. Terms run <br />concurrent with the fiscal year beginning October 1. The two year terms of <br />County Commissioner's appointees begin in October of even numbered years. <br /> The two year terms of Council on Aging appointees begin in October of odd <br /> numbered years. <br /> <br /> The Advisory Committee was established to comply with Federal Regulations <br /> which requires that 50% (nine members) of the Committee be actual older (60+) <br /> consumers of services. Furthermore, older (60+) minority older persons must <br /> be represented on the Committee in the same proportion as they exist in the <br /> general population. In Region F this regulation means that three Aging <br /> Advisory Committee members must be minority older persons. In this regard~ <br /> your nomination of 60+ and minority persons is especially encouraged. <br /> <br /> <br />
