Of these, <br />forty-seven have been verified with thirty-six applications being <br />apl)roved and eleven put on a waiting list. ~irty-one bids have <br />been awarded for a total rehabilitation cost of $175,107.29. <br />Construction has begun on nine homes with eleven homes scheduled <br />for work. to begin in May. One home has been completed and in- <br />spection made. <br />The lot clearance and demolition portion of the prpgram has pro- <br />gressed extremely well. Currently thirteen lots have been awarded <br />to contractors, for clearance, and work has begun-on eleven and <br />completed on two~ Eleven demolitipn bids have been awarded with <br />work proceeding on two hnd completed on six. The total amount for <br />lot clearance and demolition co~nitted to date is.$4,565.00. This <br />is a total of $179,672.29 for rehabilitation, lot clearance and <br />demolition. <br />The average cost, per home, for rehabilitation is currently $5,648.~2, <br />with a high of $7,872.93 and ~ low of $635.00. Based on nhis average' <br />rehabilitation cost, the Community Development pepartment anticipateg <br />being able to aid app¥oximately forty-five homes. This.leaves the~ <br />department, a minimum of, five applications short of obtaining it's <br />goal. This is not m problem, however, since there are currently <br />eleven applications on a waiting list and more applicants coming in <br />each week. <br /> <br />Mr. Glenn Silvia and Mr. Doyle Cta~ell from the Department cf Hous- <br />ing and Urban Development visited this office on April 27, 1977. <br />After checking over the administrative element of the program and <br />touring the community of Bethel, they informed the Community Deve- <br />lopment Department of Cabarrus County that the program was in ex- <br />cellent shape. <br /> <br /> <br />
