Fire Loss Report for the period April 26 to May 25, 1977 Office of Emergency Services The Cabarrus County Volunteer Fire Departments spent fourty (40) hours fi~j~fing seventy (70) fires. Dan Ca,Tenter of Csarlotte is inst]~c%ing the 20 team m 6mb ers. The fire inspector mede 14 inspections of nursing hG~es, rest hcmen, foster homes.and public buildings during the month of ~.~ay, 1977. Also, a fire prevention program v~as presented %o the fourth gredes at all the schools in Cabar~as County. A fire safety program for the hous~,~ife was presented %o the Lioness Club of Mt. Pleasant on Nonday, Nay 16, 1977. The Office of Emergency Se~,ices presented %~.~o progr~s on Civil Preparedness, one %o the senior class of nurses at the Cabarets School of Nursing and one to the fifth grade classes'at Aycock Elenenta~y School. ~,~rs. Gerri Nosh, secretary for %be office gave the progr~ns. Safe~v Sugsestion: Gasoline is a ve]~ hazardous material and should be treeted with care and respect. By follo.':ing same simple precautions, gasoline can be reasonably safe. (1) Use only approved safety cans to store gasoline. Never plastic or glass. (2) Put out cigarettes and cigars before handling gas. (3) Do not attempt to 'refuel a hot engine. T~3:e a break and rest %;'hLle it cools.
