Mohn, Associate Director <br /> SUBJECT: ~E]~ ~NI~JM S.qL~RIES 1977-78 <br /> <br /> On May 2, 1977, I notified each law enforcement agency that Legislation <br /> was being considered by the 1977 6eneral Assembly which would increase the <br /> VdnimuJ~ Salary levels of all law enforcement officers and continue the <br /> ~nimum Salary Program through June ~O, 1978. I am happy to report that <br /> this Legislation has been approved and became effective July 1, 1977. <br /> ~ne!esed herein is a position snd po.rmlation chart w'nich depi ~ts the <br /> new ~.~i~mnm Salary levels. <br /> <br /> As you can see from this chart the new ~nimum Salary level for all <br /> -law enforcement officers is ~ The new ~imum Salary for <br /> Chiefs-of-Po!'ice and Sheriffs emp%byed in a toxm or county with a <br /> population less than 5,000 and 25~OOO is $8,800. The remaining mzni~ <br /> salary levels are self-explanatory by re,~ie~,~ng the chart enclosed. <br /> <br /> The new Vinimt~a Salary requirement is a substantial increase from the <br /> $6,500 presently in effect. However, as I indicated in my letter of <br /> ~i~y 2, the major difference in this program and the latter is the ~... <br /> seventy-five percent (75~) local requirement. <br /> <br /> I am enclosing blar~k contracts to be completed and returned to this <br /> office. Upon our receipt of these contracts, funding x~rill begin <br /> for the quarter begi~ming Jp~y, 1977. Yom' immediate and prompt <br /> attention to the contracts enclosed herein is very important.
