<br /> raining such a county home for the maintenance rof less than fifteen
<br /> inmates at a per capita cost per inmate greatl~ in excess of the amo~mt
<br />necessary for proper .maintenance due to a fixed cost far in excess of
<br />reasonable requirements, whic. h said unreasonable costs is being born by
<br />Itaxpayers of Cabarrus Oounty, and whereas the Board of Commissioners of
<br />Cabarrus County, in its discretion, has determined that an agreement wit!
<br />the County of Stanly for the care and maintenance of the poor and infirm
<br />of the County of Cabarrus would be of benefit to the taxpayers of said
<br />County of Cabarrus; and whereas the County of Stanly maintains a co~unty
<br />home and provides therein the care and maintenance of such poor And
<br />infirm of the ~ounty of Stanly in like manner and like quality as that
<br />furnished or provided by the County ofCabarrus; m~d whereas the said Cou ~ty
<br />of Stanly, through its Board of Commissioners has offered to care for an~
<br />maintain in the County Home of said County of Stanly the said poor and
<br />infirm of the County of Cabarrus at a per capita cost in excess of the
<br />cost of per capita maintenance of its ovm poor and infirm, but at a per
<br />capita cost far less than the present costs of care and maintenance now
<br />being paid by the County of Cabarrus for its poor and infirm;
<br /> NOW, THEHEFORE, It is mutually agreed between the parties hereto as
<br />]follows:
<br /> (1) That the County of Stanly will care for and naintain, not to
<br />exceed fifteen in mumber, the poor and infirm of the County of Cabarrus
<br />by providing such poor and infirm with quarters, food, clothing, and
<br />medicines,in the County Home of the County of Stanly~ on the same basis
<br />and standards as that furnished to the inmated from said County of Stanly
<br /> (2) That C
<br /> the oumty of Cabarrus, for a~d in consideration of said
<br />services to be rendered by said County of Stanly~,~ agrees to pay to said
<br />Comuty of Stanly the sum of Forty-six Dollars ($46.00) per month per
<br />inmate
<br /> from
<br /> Cabarrus
<br /> County, so long as the nm~ber of such inmates is not
<br />less than ten or more than fifteen; the sum of Fifty Dollars ($~0.O0)
<br />per month per inmate from Cabarrus County when such number of inmates sh~ .ll
<br />be net..less ~han six or more than nine; and the s~m of Fifty-two and
<br />~O/lO0 Dollars (~2.~0) per month per. inmate from Cabarrus County when
<br />number of inmates shall be less than six; and said County of Stanly agre~ .s
<br />to accept such compensation for the services to be~endered by said Count
<br />of Stanly.
<br /> (3) That the County of Cabarrus agrees to pay all expense of hos- '
<br />pitalization, including transportation, fbr its said inmates. Such
<br />Lnmates from said Cabarrus County are to be placed in hospitals only upo~
<br />~ecommendation of the Health,Officer o£ theCounty of Stanly; and such
<br />inmates shall be hospitalized in Cabarrus County Hospital, except when
<br />an emergency makes it impracticable.
<br />(4) That Cabarrus County will pay all burial expenses of its inmates
<br />(5) That inmates from theCounty of Cabarrus shall be r eceivad only
<br />upon letter of authorization signed by the Superintendent of Public
<br />Welfare of the County of Cabar=us, ~d after approval by the Health
<br />Officer of the County of Stanly.
<br /> (6) ~ That mf and when an mnmate from the County of Cabarrus shall be-
<br />.come mentally deranged to the extent that such inmate becomes a State
<br />iCharge and is acceptable to one of the State Hospitals. for the Insane,
<br /> said County of Cabarrus agrees to remove such inmates from the County
<br /> Home of~ theCounty of Stanly.
<br /> (7) That it is agreed by the parties hereto that the Superintendent
<br />of Public Welfare of the County of Cabarrus shall visit the County Home
<br />of the County of Stanly with t he Superintendent of Public Welfare of the
<br />County of Stanly, at least one time every thirty days.
<br /> (8) That this contract shall be and remain in full force and effect
<br />for the term of one year, beginning December l, 194~, and ending November.
<br />~0, 1944, unless sooner termiDmted by the Board of Commissioners of eith~r
<br />the County of Cabarrus or the County of Stanly, upon ninety days written
<br />notice by either of said Boards to the other. This contract may be con-
<br />tinued from year to y~ar by agreement between the Boards of Commissioners
<br />of the Counties of Cabarrus and Stanly as to the compensation tobe paid
<br />for the services set forth in this contract for~ each such succeeding yea:,.
