from the registrars and judges of election in the w§rious precincts of the County of Cabarrus <br /> <br /> the returns of the special election held on September lC, 1955. <br /> <br /> After said returns had been canvnssed by said Board of Commissioners, being simultaneously <br /> <br />with the canvassing thereof by the County Board of Elections in the same Place, Commissioner W. Frank <br />McCray introduced the following resolution which w~s read: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF ~HE SPECIAL BOND <br /> ELECTION HELD SEPTEMBER 10, 1955, AND DETE~MINTNG AND <br /> DECLARING IHE RESULT THEREOF. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus: <br /> <br /> Section 1, That the returns of the special bond election held onSeptemberlO, 1955 having <br /> <br />been received from the proper election officers and the Board having canvassed the same, the <br /> <br /> following facts are hereby found snddstermined: <br /> <br /> (a) That each registrar and judge for the ~o ecial bond election held in the County of <br /> <br /> Cabarrus on September 10, 1955, was duly qualified by law and had taken the necessary oath. <br /> <br /> (b) That the election officers had incorporated in their returns not only the number of <br /> <br />votes cast for and against the 'question submitted, but also the number of voters registered and <br />qualified to vote in each precinct in the election. <br /> <br /> (c) That at said election thera was submitted to the qualified voters of said County the <br /> <br /> following question: <br /> <br /> Sh~!l an order finally passed on July 18, 1955, a~thorizing the County of Cabarrus <br /> North Carolina, to contract a debt, in addition to any and all other debt which said <br /> County may now or hereafter have power or authority to contract, andin evidence ther~f <br /> to issue School Building bonds in an aggregate principal smount not exceeding $2,630,000 <br /> for the purpose of providing funds, with any athar funds available for such pur~ose, <br /> for erecting an additional school building and additional school plant faci,lities, <br /> remodeling cud enlarging existing school buildings andacquiring necessary land and <br /> equipment therefor in order to provide additional elementary ~nd secondary school <br /> facilities in the County of. Cabarrus to maintain the six months' school term in said <br /> County as required by Section 3 of Article IX of ~he Constitution, s~d authorizingthe <br /> levy and collection of a ~ufficient tax for the payment of the principal of and the <br /> interest on said bonds, be, approved? <br /> Section 2.
