The Board of County Com~issioners met at their reg-mlar meeting on Monday February 6,

<br />1956 at 10:00 A. M. at the Courthouse with the following members present:
<br /> Chairman- J. Lee White

<br /> Commissioners: L.Bo~man Barrier, M.Smoot Lyles, W. Frank McCrayand P.E.Stalli~,
<br />
<br /> Motion by L.Bowman Barrier, seconded by M.Smoot Lyles that Lewis Paul Sherrill peddlers
<br />license be renewed on account of being disabled.
<br />
<br /> It appearing tothe Board of County Commissioners of Cabarrus County, N.C., that Heddie
<br />Groff Sherrill is the o~ner of a lot on Vance Street upon which a lien for Old Age Assistance is
<br />filed, and it also ~appearing that the City of Concord desires to widen and connect St.Heorge
<br />Street with Pearl Street so as to include a small part of the property of said Heddie Groff Sherri L1
<br />and to give to exchange for said property a larger lot adjoining the same and fronting on Vance
<br />Street, and it further a~pea~.i~g that the property given in exchange by the City of Concord is
<br />more valuable than that lwhich it will receive and'~th~t thA¢~al~e':~.a~lcofvsa~d ~roperty will
<br />be materially increased by the widening and connecting of said streets;
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the Chairman and the Clerk of the Board of County
<br />Commissioners of Cabarrus County, N.C., be and they are hereby authorized to execute a release fro
<br />the lien of Old Age Assistance to t he City of Concord for that part of the property of Heddie
<br />Groff Sherrill to be used by the City of Concord provided the city of Concord deed the unused
<br />portion of its lot on Vance Street to said Heddie Hroff Sherrill.
<br />
<br /> On motion of M.Smoot Lyles, seconded by ~.Frank McCray, the foregoing resolution was
<br />unanimously adopt.ed.
<br />
<br /> It appearing to the Board of County Commissioners of Cabarrus County, N.C., that May
<br />Belle Curry Neal andEssie Parks having rode improvements to their property on the South side
<br />of Chipola Road, adjoining Clark and McCree in the "Texas" Section of Kannapolis, N.C., in the
<br />amount ofabout Twenty-seven Hundred Dollars ($2,700.00), and that the interest of Essie Parks
<br />in said property is subject to a lien for Old Age Assistance; and it further appear_ci~_ that it
<br />is necessary for the owners to borrow from Citizens Building and Loan of Concord, N.., the
<br />sum of Twenty-two Hundred Dollars ($2,200.00), to pay for said improvements.
<br />
<br /> Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the Chairman and Clerk of the Board of County Comm-
<br />issioners of Oabarrus County, N.C., be ar~ they are hereby authorized to execute the necessary
<br />instrument in writing so as to subordinate the lien of Cabarrus County for Old Age Assistance to
<br />a Deed of T~ust from May Belle Curry Neal and husband Willie Neal and Essie Parks, widow, to ~. Y
<br />Sasser,Txustee, for Citizens Building and Loan of Concord, N.C., in accordnace with the provisions
<br />of Section 108-30.2 of the General Statutes of; North Carolina.
<br />
<br /> On motion of P.E.Stallings seconded by L. BowmanBarrier, the foregoing resolution was
<br />unanimously adopted.
<br />
<br /> Motion by P.Ernest Stallings, seconded by M. Smoot Lyles that C. N.Field and J. Lee White
<br />be appointed to confer with the Local Rural Fire Departments as to the Purchase of two-way
<br />Radio for Fire Trucks and if purchase be made amd payments be of July the first 1956, to go
<br />ahead with purchase of ;same..
<br />
<br /> Motion by L.Bowman Barrier seconded by P.Ernest Stallings approved Board of Education
<br />of T~ansfer $2368.81 fo~ Adjustment for Social Security for Teachers.
<br />
<br /> Motion by L.Boeman Barrier seconded by P.Ernest Stallings to take over and widen road
<br />in No. 8 Township.known as the Cage! Barringar Road.
<br />
