The Board of County Commissioners met at a called meeting on ~arch 5, 1956 at 10:00 A. H. at the Courthouse with the following members present: ~ Chairman: J. Lee ~ite Commissioners: L.BowmanBarrier~ M Smoot Lyles, W. Frank McCray and P.E.Stallings Motion by L.Bowman Barrier~ Seconded by P.E.Stallings, to recommend to the State Highway ~d t~ublic -~Yorks Commission for stop lights in Midway Section of Kannapolis, N.C. Motion by L.Bowman Barrier, seconded by W.Frank McCray that the following Road petitions be passed: NO. ll Township. Take ov~er and ~mai~ntain street in ~section called "The Hills". No. 12 'l'c~nship. Sides Town. Length of road 3 Blocks pull up gravel and maintain. No. ~Townsh~p. Road runs from Evelyn Ave. to ~right Ave. known as Jenny Lynn S~. Scrape and cut side ditches and keep worked. Ne. l0 Township. Highway 27 to Stafford Brooks. known as McManus Road. Take over and maintain. No. ~ Township. Horne Street Machin work and maintain/ No. h Township. McCombs Street. Put on system and maintain.' No. ~ Township. Park Street. open ditches and scrape. No. ~Township. Sharon Street. Put in one more joint of tit~-where street leaves Centergwove Road and scrape ou~ side ditches and scrape street. No.2 Township. Weddington Road. Surface Treat. No. 8 Township.Road runs from Page Service Station to Bazzingez Road. New Development. take over and maintain. Motion by W.Frank McCray and seconded by L.Bowman Barrier ~hat the State Highway ar~ Public Works be recommended for traffic signs in No. 4 ownshmp~2611 Rome Street. Motion by L. Bowman Barrier seconded by P.Ernest Stallings that the Health Department at old County Home be weather stripped and walls be insulated. Motion by P.Ernest Stallings seconded by L.Bowman Barrier that Benjamin Sellers be exempt from Poll Tax for L~fe on account of having one leg. Motion by Frank McCray seconded by P.Ernest Stallings that Ray A.Cline be authorized to ~'~ Garnishee Personal property on which taxes have not been paid at the rate of 50 c~nts each and one half to go to collector of same. ~ Motion by Frank McCray seconded by P. E~nest Stallings that C. N.Field be authorized to pay State Board of Assessment for pa~t of fee in regard to Intangible taxes~ in the amount pf Fifty Dollars.
