The Board of County Commissioners met at the Courthouse on April 9, 1956 at 10:00 <br /> <br />A. M. with the following members present: <br /> Chairman: J. Lee White <br /> <br /> Commissioners: L.Bowman Barrier, M.Smoot Lyles, W. Frank McSray~nd P.E.Stallings. <br /> <br /> Motion to L.Bowman Barrier, seconded by W.FrankMcCray that the following petitions be <br />passed: <br /> No. 4 Township - Horns Street - Machine work and maintain <br /> No. 4Township -Sharon S~'. Take over and maintain <br /> No. 4 Township- Hileman Mill Rd. -Widen bridge <br /> No. 9 Township - Plott School House Rd. Pull ditches and gravel <br /> No. 11 Township - Brown S~reet- Widen, cut through to other section of street. <br /> <br /> Motion by M.Smoot Lyles seconded by W.Frank McCraythat C. N.Field be appointed <br /> administrator~to adminster of Social Securitys for local Government. <br /> <br /> SUPPL~2~ENTAL RESOLUTION FOR COUNTIES, CITIES AND OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS PARTICIPATING <br /> IN THE NORTH CAFO LINA LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL EMPLOYEES, RETIREMENT SYSTEM OR OTHER PUBLIC <br /> <br />HETIR~2~ENT SYSTEMS MAKING APPLICATION FOR COVERAGE OF EMPLOYEES IN TEMPORARY, ~ART-TIME T~PORARY <br />AND PART-TIME REGUI_~R POSITIONS UNDER THE OLD-AGE AND SURVIVORS' INSURANCE PROVISIONS OF TITLE <br /> <br /> II OF THE FEDERAL SOCIAL SECURITY ACT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Title II of the Federal Social Security Act has been amended for the purpose <br /> <br /> of ex~ending to t he employees of political subdivisions of the Sta~e and ~heir instrumentalities <br /> and to the dependents and survivors of such employees,the basic protection accorded to others by <br /> the Old_Age and Survivors' Insurance Program as embodied in the Social Security Act, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, t he provisions of Article 2 of Chapter 135 of the General Statutes of North <br /> Carolina, as amended in 1955, designate the Executive Secretary of the Teachers' an State <br /> Employees' Retirement System, whose title is: Director of the North Carolina Public Employees' <br /> Social Security Agency authorized to enter into agreeme~s for coverage plans for ~he purpose of <br /> extending such benefits to employees of such ~plilical subdivisions, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the governing authority of this political subdivision of the State desires to <br /> ~x~ ~S ~mp~oye~i~ temp0~a~y~ D~i~_mpozaryand paCts-time regular posit~ons, and <br /> their survivors, the same protection and benefits provided by said laws and the regulations <br /> established thereunder; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the extension of such benefits has been approved for other employees, effective <br /> January 1, 1955: <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, <br /> <br /> Be ii resolved by The Board of County Commissioners Cabarrus County <br /> <br /> in a regular meeting, a quorum being preseni: <br /> <br /> 1. Thai the governing authority of ~his political subdivision of the State, lo the <br /> <br />extent of its lawful authority and power, does hereby ex~end to its 'employees in temporary, part- <br />time temporary and part-time regular positions, effective April 1, 1956, Ihs benefits <br />authorize~ byb Title II of the Federal Social Security Act, as amended, and in accordance with <br /> <br /> <br />
