At the called meeting of tbs Cabarrus County Commissioners on February 8, 1957 the <br /> <br />following commissioners were present: <br /> ~hairman- J. Lee White <br /> <br /> Commissioners- P.E. Stallings, W.Frank McGray <br /> <br /> Absent- L.Bowman Ba~rier~ M.Smoot Lytes <br /> <br /> Motion by W.Frank McCray seconded by P.E.Stallings that the following resolution be <br /> adopted: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> A RESOLUTION B~THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF CABARRUS COUNTY, N. C. TO PROVIDE <br />FOR A REFERENDUM BY THE COUNTY'S LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS UNDER PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 2 OF <br />CHAPTER 13~ OF THE GENERAL STATUTES OF NORTH CAROLINA AND UNDER PROVISIONS OF ~{E GOVERNOR'S <br />EXE~CUTIVE ORDER OF DECEMBER 17, 19~6. <br /> <br /> BE IT AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Cabarrus <br /> <br />County, N.C. as follows: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1. That the Board of County Commissioners of Cabarrus County, N.C. hereby applies <br /> <br />to the Agent designated in the Executive Order, dated December 17, 1956, by the Governor of North <br />Carolina, to hold, on May 15, 1957, a referendum to determine whether or not the Law En£orcement <br />Officers' Benefit and Retirement Fund, as it applies to eligible law enforcement officers <br />members o£ this governmental unit, shall be coordinated vith the Old-Age and Survivors Ins~ am e <br />provisions of the Federal Social Security Act. Coverage under the. Social Security Act will <br />become effective on thelst day of January, 1957, for all law enforcement officers in service on <br />the date that the agreement is executed by the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2. That the Board of County Commissioners of Cabarrus County, N.C., agrees, in <br /> <br />consideration of the acceptance of this application, that it will designate an election official <br />to serve as such without compensation under the supervision of and in accordance with instrumtions <br />of the Agent of the Governor and that it will notify the eligible voters not less than 90 days <br />prior to June 15, 1957, date of referendum. <br /> <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br />CITY OF CONCORD <br /> <br /> I, John R.Boger,Registerof Deeds and EX Officio Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />of Cabarrus county, N.C. do hereby certify the foregoing to be a true and perfect copy and <br />transcrip of a resolution duly adopted and passed by the Board of Connty Commissioners of Cabarrms <br />County, N.C., at an adjourned regular meeting held on February 8, 19~?, at the Cabarrus county <br />Cuurthouse, as the same appeare on file and of record in my said office. <br /> <br /> Witness my hand and official seal this 8th day of February, 19~7. <br /> <br /> John R.Boger (Oeal) <br /> Register of Deeds a nd Ex Officio Clerk of <br /> Boardof County Commissioners of Cabarrus <br /> <br />There being no further business the board adjorned to meet at their regular meeting in Mar ch. <br /> <br /> C~efk-tg <br /> <br /> <br />
