The Cabarrus County Commissioners met on Monday ni§ht,December 17, 1962 at 7:00 P M at the Courthouse with the following members present: Chairman, ~.~Frank James ~ Commissioners, Oren Hill, M.Smoot Lyles, W.Frank McCray and McNeil Petrea The meeting was called to order by Chairman James and he presented the agenda for the meetir'g consisting of the following: 1. Appointment of Tax Listers 2. Keeping the Courthouse open on Saturdays until Noon 3. Appointment of John Harward as County Treasurer and Auditor at the pleasure of t he Bm rd h. Appointment of Tax Collector In reference to the appointment of Tax Listers, Chairman James asked if he could hear a motion to accept the list of tax listers as listed below: Township 1- Mrs. W.F.Alexander Township 2- Mr. Clyde S. Johnston Township 3- Mr.E.E.Allison Township h- Mrs. Alice P.Smith Township h- Mrs. Martha V Overcash Township h- Mrs. Jack Tucker Township 5- Mrs Dulcte S. Jones Township 6- Mt. Charles C. Rimer Township 7- Mt. Ray P Moose Township 8- Mrs Glenn Penninger Township 9- Mr. T.F.$hinn Township 10- Mr Larry Connor Township 11- Mrs. Hugh Hartsell Township 12- Mr. J.W. Honeycutt ,.~ Township 12- Mrs. Margaret $. Reece Towns%ip 12- Mrs. Margaret A.Troxler Motion by C McNeil Petrea, seconded by Oren Hill that the list of tax listers be ? accepted. Motion by C McNeil Petrea, seconded by Oren Hill that the following offices were to begin opening on Saturday until Noon beginning the first Saturday in January, 1963: The office of the Tax Collector, the office of the County Treasurer and Auditor and the office of the Tax Supervisor. This motion was voted on and carried unanimously. Next on the agenda was the appointing of John Harward at the pleasure of the board. Mr/ Harward expressed that he was not interested in a temporary appointment. Chairman James said that a ninety day appointment would be as far as he could go. On the motion of C McNeil Petrea and seconded by Oren Hill, Mr Harward was appointed Cabarrus County Treasurer and Auditor until January 1, 1963. Motion by Oren Hill, seconded by C McNeil Petrea, that Gi~ Allen Jr., be appointed as Cabarrus County Tax Collector. The roll was called on this issue and Mr. James, Mr Petrea and Mr Hill voted "yes". Mr McCray and Mr Lyles voted "no", The "yes" carried. Motion by Oren Hill, seconded by Frank McCray, that the.Christmas holidays forthe Courthouse are to begin at closing time ~n Friday,December 21, 1962 'until opening time on Thursday, December 27, 1962. (This does not apply to the Sheriff's Department). This motion was voted on and carried unanimously. Motion by Frank McCray and seconded by Oren Hill that the meeting adjourn. ard '
