The Cabarrus County Commissioners met at a call meeting Thursday,~ August 8, 1963, at 7tO0 p.m. <br /> at the County Courthouse. <br /> <br /> Present: Chairman, Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners; McNeil Petrea, Oren Hill, Frank McCray, Smoot Lyles <br /> <br />~. Meeting called to order by Frank James,~ who read a letter from Gice Allen, Tax Collector, <br /> <br /> concerning property formerly owned by Ezekial Blair. Mr. Allen requested permission to sell <br />~this property to Mary J. Wallace for back taxes. Commissioners said they would discuss this <br /> <br /> with Mr. Beckerdite and advise later. <br /> <br /> There was discussion with members of Rescue Squad concerning money for new building. Mr~ <br /> Wilson was spokesman for the Rescue Squad. Petrea made motion, seconded by Lyles for the county <br /> to donate $4000 to Cabarrus County Rescue Squad. This is to be a supplimentary appropration <br /> taken out of i~__~te-~--~a~. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Lyles made motion, seconded by Hill to approve revision of boundary lines for the following <br /> volunteer fire departments:~ Cold Water, Allen, and Jackson Park. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Alfred Hurt, county accountant, requested commissioners to give him authorization to set <br /> up a purchasing order and requisition system. Hill made motion, seconded by Petrea to grant <br /> Hurt this authorization. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Lyles made motion, seconded by Petrea to adopt following resolution: Voted for: Lyles, <br /> McCray, James Voted Against: Hill, Petrea <br /> <br /> "RESOLVED, that , City Attorney, (County Attorney) be, and he hereby <br /> is authorized and directed to perform any and all acts which in his judgment may be necessary <br /> or desirable to insure that the view of Cabarrus County supporting the position of Southern <br /> Railway System with respect to the transportation of grain into the Southeast in multiple-car <br /> shipments, in accordance with tariffs now on file with the Interstate Commerce Commission, are <br /> presented to the United States District Court at Cincinnati, Ohio and any other court which may <br /> take jurisdiction in a similar case, or on any appeal. <br /> <br /> Having no further business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> Board <br /> ~ Clerk ~o <br /> <br /> <br />
