The Cabarrus County Commissioners met at their reilular meeting Monday, October 7, 1963, <br /> <br />at 10500 a.m. at the County Courthouse. <br /> <br /> Present s Chairman, Fr~qk James <br /> <br /> Co~missioners , Oren Hill, McMeil Petrea, Smoot l~yles, Frank McCray <br /> <br /> Meeting called to order by Chairman James. Prayer by Rev. J. A. Fitzgerald. <br /> <br /> Mr. Harbison presented petition for commissioners to indorse concerning a caution light <br /> <br />and redu~ino af speed in Harrisburg .section. Petrea made motion, seconded by Hill to approve <br /> <br />this petition, also to approve following road petitions. Stewart, H~me Economics ~xtension Xgent, submitted her resignation, effective <br /> <br />December 1, 1963. Mrs. Lorna Langley, District Agent of Southwestern District, recmended <br />that Peogy Burke, who is Associate Agent of Stanley County, be appointed Cabarrus County's <br />Ho~e Econamics Agent. McCray made motion, seconded by Hill ta ~pprove the resignation of Mrs. <br />Sara Stewart and the appointment of Peggy Burke as aoent. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Bids were opened from the following firms fee fuel oil for Cabarrus County'. <br /> <br /> (1) Cities Service Oil Co. .0977 per gal. <br /> (2) gulf 0il Corp. 10.35 per 9al. <br /> (3) Carolina 0il Co. .1030 per gal. <br /> (Ii) Propst Bros. Dist. Co. 11.3 per 0al. <br /> (5) Central Dist. Co. .1157§ per gal. <br /> <br /> Motion by Petrea, seconded by Hill t~ accept Cities Service as low bidder for fuel oil to <br />Cabarrus County. Vote Carried. <br /> <br /> l~r. gene Holbrook, representing Home Realty Co. came befeee the board and requested again <br /> <br />that samething be done concernin9 three houses that were charged to Home Realty in T-h in 1962, <br />which he said were not complete. Petrea is to contact Mrs. Pauline Cline concerning this and '~ <br />decide next meeting. <br /> <br /> McCray made motion, seconded by Hill to pay B. S. Brown, Jr. for 1~ weeks vacation pay <br /> <br />for the year 1963. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Lyles made motion, seconded by Hill to adopt a resolution bringin§ elected officers within <br />the scope of the l/orlmen's C~apensation Act.
