The Cabarrus County Commissioners met at their regular meeting Monday, <br />February 7, 1966, at 10:00 a.m. in the Courthouse. <br />Present: Chairman, C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners, Oren Hill, McNeil Petrea, Smoot Lyles, Frank McCray <br /> <br /> Meeting called to order by Chairman James. Prayer by Rev. Privette. <br />Minutes of January meeting read and stand approved. <br /> <br /> Dr. Arey gave a progress report on The Cultural Enviromment Committee of <br />Cabarrus County. Dr. Arey requested funds with w~ich to purchase more films to <br />be shown. Commissioners instructed Attorney Llewelyn to check the law and see <br />if it was possible to grant any funds to this Committee. <br /> <br /> Mr. Joe and Ed Overcash came before Board concerning a private road, located <br />beside the County School property and the Benny Lee Farm, which was made in- <br />accessible by Duke Power Co. placing a pole in the middle of the road and the <br />Construction Company's heavy equipment tearing up road. This is the only access <br />to Mr. Overcash's property. Commissioners advised Mr. Overcash to go before <br />the Board of Education since this was school property. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lawrence, County Forester, requested the hiring of a Ranger to assist <br />him~ Commissioners agreed they would consider this, but no decision could be <br />reached until budget time. <br /> <br /> Lyles made motion, seconded by Petrea to approve the following road petition~: <br />Vote carried. <br /> School Ave., Harrisburg T-1 Request for Addition <br /> <br /> Cooper Ave. & Westwood Dr.T-4 Request for Addition <br /> <br /> It was agreed Petrea and McCray would check into the possibility of pur- <br />chasing the Firestone Bldg. located on E. Corban Ave. East and report to Board. <br /> <br /> Attorney Llewellyn was instructed to contact Mrs. Eugene Beaver and inform <br />her only two (2) years refund could be granted on property she does not own, and <br />she must submit this request for a refund in writing. <br /> <br /> b~r. A. M. Patterson, Department of Archives and History stated his departmen~ <br />would be in Cabarrus County microfilming and inventoring records, beginning on <br />above date. <br /> <br /> Sheriff Roberts request Attorney Furman James be made available 12 months <br /> <br />out of the year instead of court weeks. Commissioners said this would have to <br /> <br />be discussed at budget time. <br /> <br /> (Continued) <br /> <br /> <br />
