The Cabarrus County Commissioners met at their regular monthly meeting on <br /> August 1, 1966, at 10:OO a.m. at the Courthouse with the following members <br /> present: Chairman, C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners, McNeil Petrea, W. Frank McCray, Oren J. Hill, <br /> <br /> M. Smoot Lyles. <br /> <br /> Chairman James called meeting to order and Oren Hill gave the invocation. <br /> Upon motion by Petrea and seconded by Hill, Arvonia Cochran was nominated as <br /> Clerk to the Board. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> Miss Sarah Walker and Mrs. Frances Long appeared before the Board and <br />requested that $6,935.00 given by State Board of Welfare to Cabarrus County to <br />aid County Welfare Administration be al located ~o the Welfare Administration <br />budget as follows: $3,451.OO for salaries, $1,O37.OO for the County's part <br />for a Homemaker and $2,447.00 for office equipment and. supplies. They informed <br />the Board that these funds were part of surplus funds of the State Welfare Board <br />with no assurance that surplus funds would be given next year. <br /> <br /> Motion by Petrea, seconded by Lyles that these funds be used according to <br /> the Welfare request. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> County Forester Larry Lawrence gave annual report of the activities for the <br /> preceding year. <br /> <br /> Farm agent J. Ray Allen introduced Mrs. Doris Rogers to.the Board and <br />recommended that she be appointed Assistant Home Demonstration Agent to replace <br />Miss Peggy Burke. <br /> <br /> Upon motion by Lyles, seconded by Hill, the vote was unanimous to hire <br />Mrs. Rogers. <br /> <br /> Attorney Brice J. Will,ford, Jr. presented a petition to the Board on <br />behalf of Fredrick G. Hilbish and wife, Alice M. Hilbish to close Oklahoma Avenue, <br />said petition being recorded on page dl-~"~ and become a part of said minutes. <br /> <br /> Upon motion by McCray, seconded by Petrea, the vote carried. <br /> <br /> A petition by residents of the Midland area, requesting spraying for <br />mosquitos was referred to the Health Department for further action. <br /> <br /> Hill made motion, seconded by McCray to approve the following road, petitions <br /> <br />Vote carried. Township 10 - Howell Road-- request for addition 11 - Kingfield Drive - request for addition <br /> 11 - Swink Street - request for surface treatment <br /> <br /> <br />
