W. D. Ratchford, Jr., Clerk of Superior Court, administered an oath to Chairman James, <br /> Commissioners Rankin, White, Hawfield, and Petrea, and Tax Supervisor Ralph K. Litaker as <br /> members of the Board of Equalization and Review. Upon motion by Hawfield~ seconded by <br /> White the newly appointed board adjourned. A meeting was called for Monday, May 8, 1967, <br /> at 10:00 A.M. <br /> <br /> Commissioners approved request made by Commissioner Rankin for letter written to School <br /> Board requesting itemized statement of funds received from all sources and salaries End <br /> supplements received by superintendents of the three school unite. <br /> <br /> A call meeting on Wednesday night, May 3, 1967, at 7:30 p.m. at the Courthouse was <br /> scheduled to be held with the Welfare Department and Cabarrus County School Board concerning <br /> their 1967-68 budget request. <br /> <br /> A discussion of the Grand Jury report was held. Commissioners decided to study the <br /> report further. <br /> <br /> A discussion was held concerning the possibility of setting up separate fire districts. <br /> <br />~. No action was taken. -~. <br /> <br /> Commissioners Hawfield and Rankin were asked to represent the Cabarrus County Board of <br /> Commissioners at a meeting of the Cabarrus County Fire Chiefs Association on May 2, 1967, <br /> at 7:30 p.m. at the Concord Fire Department. <br /> <br /> A statement for fuel oil from M. S. Lyles andCo. - purchases made by the Cabarrus Fire <br /> Association for training purposes was approved for payment upon motion made by Petrea, seconded <br /> by Hawfield. <br /> <br /> Hawfield made motion, seconded by Petrea to amend the current budget to take $7,500.00 <br /> from General Fund unappropriated surplus for expenses of the May 23, 1967 A,B.C. Referendum. <br /> Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Tax Supervisor Ralph K. Litaker reported to the Board about investigation concernin§ the <br /> use of electr6nid .data processing system for the Tax Department, County AccountantlS office, <br /> <br /> and other County agencies. W. D. Fugua, representative of I.B.M. Corporation, discussed <br /> application of his firmls equipment. Commissioners suggested that Mr. Fugua survey each <br /> department concerning the use of this equipment and report to the Board at a later date as <br /> to his findings. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Myrtle Bost, president of Cabarrus County h-H Leaders, requested commissioners to <br /> grant additional space in the County Building on Church Street for the Home Demonstration Office. <br /> <br /> <br />
