.545 <br /> <br /> The Cabarrus County C~m~ssioners met at a call meeting Wednesday, June 21, 1967, at <br /> 1:30 p.m. at the Courthouse. Present were: <br /> <br /> Chairman - C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners - Rankin, Petrea, White, and Hawfield. <br /> <br /> Meeting was called to order by Chairman James. <br /> <br /> C~,~ ssioner Rankin brought up the subject of statements newspaper attributed to Mr. Ronnie <br />Pruett, local attorney, which he allegedly made at a political gathering in which Mr. Pruett <br />accused the County RepubLican ~m~nistration of misappropriating interest earned from school fund <br />investments into the general fund. After some discussion as to ~hether or not this matter ~as <br />a concern of either the previous or present Board ~r whether it should be concerned otherwise, <br />it was pointed out that the funds were handled properly. Rankin made motion, seconded by Petrea <br />to deny this statement as being derogatory and untrue. Vot~for - Rankin and Petrsa; abstained - <br />Hawfiald and White. <br /> <br /> Mr. Les M~ers appeared before the Board stating that he was speaking as a private citizen <br />and it was his opinion that the method of financing law enforcement in various county a~eas <br />from the County general fund constituted double tamation insofar as the law ~aforcement~in the <br />city of Concord ~as concerned. After quoting the cost of la. enforcement in the city of C~ncord <br />he requested the Board to consider some financial aid toward law enforcement in the city of <br />Concord. No action ~as taken. <br /> <br /> Various budgets were discussed and the County accountant was instructed to prepare new <br />budget estimates for the Board's consideration for a meeting to b~ held at a later date. <br /> <br /> Chairman James called to the attention of the Board discussion and recommendations that had <br />been made for the position of County manager. After a discussion of the matter, the Board agreed <br />that County Accountant Alfred L. Hurt be appointed County Manager effective July 1, 1967, at a <br />salary of $ 9,600.00, with $500.00 for ~rSwm~ .ex~e~e~:.am~ $$:,'5~O$ £~ a junior accountant for <br />his staff to be added to his department budget. <br /> <br /> Having no further business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> Clerk to Board <br /> <br /> <br />
