RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> WBEREAS, that on or about the 14th day of November, 1968, <br /> the Canno. n Foundation, Inc:, gave to Cabarrus County the <br /> Calloway property formerly owned b'y Cabarrus -Motor Company, <br /> as a gift to assist the Oounty in the erection of a new county <br /> governmental building complex; <br /> <br /> --AND WBEREAS, this new gift gives to the County of Cabarrus <br /> the entire block of property whereon is situated the present <br /> Courthouse and its annexed buildings; <br /> <br /> AND WBEREAS, the Cannon Foundation, less than six months <br /> ago, gave to the County of Cabarrus the sum of fifty-five <br /> thousand dollars ($55,000.00) as a gift to assist the county <br /> in the erection of the new county governmental building complex; <br /> <br /> AND WBEREAS, this new gift has a value of more than" <br /> <br /> two hunflred and 6ighty thousand dollars ($280,000.00); <br /> <br /> AND WBEREAS, the Cannon Foundation, Inc. has seen fit on <br /> numerous other occasions during its existence to show its <br /> benevolence to the people of Cabarrus County in many and varied <br /> ways so that our people might become a more progressive people <br /> and so that the county in which we. live might become a better <br /> place for its citizens to reside; <br /> <br /> AND WBEREAS, the Cannon Foundation, Inc., through its <br /> leaders, has again demonstrated the faith it has in the people <br /> of Cabarrus County, and its concern for the people of Cabarrus <br /> County; <br /> <br /> AND WBEREAS, this gift will create for the people of <br /> Cabarrus County the opportunity of having the finest government <br /> complex for a county of its size in the entire state of North <br /> Carolina without the need of additional revenue for the purchase <br /> of the gift as presented; <br /> <br /> AND WI~REAS, the Cannon Foundation, Inc. and its leaders <br /> <br />JOHN$ON.
