RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> At the regular meeting of the Cabarrus County School <br />Food Service Association held at Long School on Tuesday, September <br />16, 1969, the following resolution was adopted: <br /> <br /> "WHEREAS, pursuant to an Act of the North Carolina <br />General Assembly the people of Cabarrus County will on the 4th day <br />of November, 1969, vote at an election to determine whether a local <br />option 1¢ sales tax will be imposed in Cabarrus County with the <br />proceeds from said sales tax to be returned to Cabarrus County and <br />the municipalities therein on a formula set forth in said Act; <br /> <br /> AND WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County School Food Service <br />Association believes that the tax base available to Cabarrus County <br />and its municipalities should be broadened to include a source of <br />revenue other than the property tax and that the proposed 1¢ sales tax <br />is a logical and proper area of taxation and that it would be beneficial <br />to all of the citizens of Cabarrus County and especially to the school <br />children whom this Association serves to have better food service <br />and other better governmental services which such a tax could provide; <br /> <br /> AND WHEREAS, said Association feels that said tax <br />should be passed; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that this <br />Association endorses and advocates the passage of the 1¢ local option <br /> <br />sales tax on November 4, 1969, pledges itself to work for said passage, <br /> <br /> <br />
