The regular monthly meeting of the Cabarrus County Commissioners was held <br /> <br />at 9:30 A.M. On October 6, 1969, at the Courthouse with the following members <br /> <br />present: <br /> <br /> Chairman: C. Frank James <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary, C. McNeil Petrea, and <br /> <br /> S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Absent: Dr. R. B. Ranktn, Jr. <br /> <br />Chairman James called the meettnq to order. Prayer was by the Reverend Fred Hill <br />Minutes were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Mr. Frank A. Corrther, well drilling contractor from Kannapolis, requested <br />approval of the use of "P.V.C." pipe for water lines. Building Inspector Charlte <br />Irvtn reported that the use of this pipe had not officially been approved by the <br />State Board although many cities and counties were using it. After CommtsstonerF <br />Hawfi¢ld and Inspector Irvtn conferred by telephone with the State Board cOncern- <br />ing this matter. Permission was granted for the use NSF-approved "P.V.C." pipe <br />for one year to October 1, lqTO, subject to the following conditions: The first <br />twenty feet of water line from the structure being served will be galvanized pipe <br />unless the structure has its own grounding system and that the "P.V.C." pipe <br />bears the NSF ~eal of Approval. Motion for approval was made by Hawft¢ld, seconde <br />by Petrea, and was unanimously passed. <br /> <br /> Mr. George Lentz, Vocational Rehabilitation Director, discussed the vocationa <br />rehabilitation program, outlining its aims and reporting its progress, also the <br />program affecting Cabarrus County citizens beinQ served by the Rowan Vocational <br />Rehabilitation Center. After discussion, Petrea made motion, seconded by McClary, <br />that $1~1,000.00 be appropriated from the unappropriated General Fund Surplus to <br />be paid in monthly installments to the Rowan unit. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Mildred Brown,president of the Cabarrus School Food Service Association, <br />presented a resolution adopted by the School Food Service Association endorsing <br />the one percent local option sales tax. This resolution is recorded on pa.q.e....7[~ <br />and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Louise Moore, manager of the Winecoff School Cafeteria, requested the <br />Commissioners to proclaim the week of October 12 throucih October 1~ as "School <br />Lunch Week". Petrea made motion, seconded by McClary, to approve this request. <br />Vote was u~animous. <br /> <br /> <br />
