Frank James introduced <br /> the following resoluti~ which was read: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE ALLEN <br /> FIRE DISTRICT <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the <br /> <br /> County of Cabarrus: <br /> <br /> Section I. The Board of Commissioners has determined <br /> <br /> and does hereby find and declare that i:t has received petitions <br /> from the Allen Fire District of more than 15% of the resident <br /> freeholders living in that area on February 2, 1970, entitled: <br /> <br /> We, the undersigned resident freeholders and/or <br /> qualified voters living in the area now covered <br /> by the Allen Fire Department lying outside the <br /> corporate limits of the City of Concord and <br /> d~signated as the Allen Fire District, hereby <br /> respectfully petition the Board of Commissioners <br /> of Cabarrus County to call anelection in said <br /> district for the purpose of submitting to the <br /> qualified voters therein the question of levying <br /> and .collecting a special tax on all taxable <br /> property in said district, of not exceeding <br /> fifteen cents (15¢) of the one hundred dollar <br /> ($100.00) evaluation of property for the purpose <br /> of providing fire protection in said district. <br /> <br /> Section II. A special election is hereby ordered to be <br /> <br /> held in the Allen Fire District, in Cabarrus County, North <br /> Carolina, on Tuesday, March 24, 1970, between 6:30 a. m. and <br /> <br /> 6:30 p. m. Eastern standard Time, at which time <br /> <br /> th'ere shall be submitted to the qualified registered voters <br /> <br /> of the said Allen Fire District, the following proposition: <br /> <br /> An election in the Allen Fire District for the <br /> purpose of submitting to the qualified voters <br /> therein the question of levying and collecting <br /> a special tax on all taxable property in said <br /> district, of not exceeding 15¢ of the $100.00 <br /> valuation of property, for the purpose of <br /> providing fire protection in said district. <br /> <br /> Section III.
