Frank James introduced <br /> <br /> the following resolution which was read: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE MOUNT MITCHELL FIRE DISTRICT <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Boards of Commissioners for the <br /> <br /> t:Counties of Rowan and Cabarrus: <br /> <br /> Section I. The Boards of Commissioners for Rowan and Cabarrus <br /> Counties have determined and do hereby find and declare that <br /> <br /> ~hey have received petitions from the Mount Mitchell Fire District <br /> ..~'hich lies in both Rowan and Cabarrus Counties, of more than 15% <br /> of the resident freeholders living in that area on February 2, <br /> ~970, entitled: <br /> <br /> We, the undersigned resident freeholders and/or <br /> qualified voters'living in the area now covered <br /> by the Mount Mitchell Fire Protection District <br /> lying outside the corporate limits of the City <br /> of Concord and designated as the Mt. Mitchell <br /> Fire Protection District, hereby respectfully <br /> petition the Board of County Commissionersof <br /> Cabarrus and Rowan County to call an election <br /> .~ said district for the purpose of submitting <br /> Uo ~he qualified voters therein the question of <br /> levying and collecting a special tax on all <br /> ~axable property in said district, of not exceeding <br /> fifteen cents (15¢) of the one' hundred dollar <br /> ($100.00) evaluation of property for the purpose <br /> of providing fire protection in said district. <br /> <br /> Section II. A special election is hereby 'ordered to be held <br /> <br /> ,,n ~he Mount Mitchell Fire District, which lies in Rowan and <br /> <br /> l;Cabarrus Counties, North Carolina, on Tuesday, March 24, 1970, <br /> <br /> between 6:30 a. m. and 6:30 p. m.
