The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners met in regular session at <br /> <br />9:30 A. M. on August 3, 1970 in the courthouse with the following members <br />present: Chairman C. Frank James and Commissioners Rankin, Hawfield, Petrea <br />and McClary. <br /> <br /> Mr. Coy Black gave the invocation and the minutes of the last meeting <br />were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Attorney John R. Boger, Jr. represented three residents of t~he Rockland <br />Sanitary District who requested a copy of the audit for the District. County <br />Manager Alfred L. Hurt stated that the audit reports for the Rockland and the <br />Kannapolis Sanitary Districts were being prepared but had not yet been sub- <br />mitted to his office. Commissioners instructed Mr. Hurt to withhold tax <br />collections from the two Districts until the audit r~eports were received. <br /> <br /> The following road petitions were unanimously approved upon motion by <br />Petrea, seconded by McClary: <br /> <br /> · Township #4. Aiken Street.. Request for surface treatment <br /> <br /> #4. Beautmont & Shepherd Streets. Request for surface treatment <br /> #4. R/No. 2050 Charles Street. Request for surface treatment <br /> #4.. Watts Avenue. State maintained <br /> <br /> A discussion was held concern~ng-the date and the ceremonies for a <br />public opening of the new law enforcement building. <br /> <br /> Hawfield made motion seconded-by Rankin to approve appropriation of <br />$~50.OO toward the cost of a rendering of the new courthouse complex to be <br />displayed in the lobby of the new law enforcement building. Vote was unani- <br />mous. <br /> <br /> A letter from the Memorial Garden Committee of the First Presbyterian <br />Church was read in which a request was made that the present courthouse clock <br />and clock tower be given the church after a new courthouse is built. The <br />clock and tower would be placed in Memorial Garden. Commissioners instructed <br />the Country Manager to reply to the request and ask the Committee to make this <br />request to the Board in authority at the time the new courthouse is bu'~lt. <br /> <br /> Having no further business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> Clerk to Board <br /> <br /> <br />
