RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE AND MEMORY <br /> <br /> OF <br /> <br /> CHARLES ALBERT CANNON <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Charles Albert Cannon died on April 2, 1971, <br />after a long, fruitful, successful, and dedicated life of service to this <br />County, State, and Nation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Charles Albert Cannon was a world leader in the <br />textile industry, being the Chariman of the Board of Directors of Cannon <br />Mills Company and holding many offices in textile organizations and serving <br />said industry by his leadership of its causes before the Congress of the <br />United States and other agencies and groups; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Charles Albert Cannon contributed much to the <br />economic life and well-being of Cabarrus County as the Chief Executive of <br />the industry which employed more than twenty thousand persons; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Charles Albert Cannon, as Chairman of the Board <br />of Trustees and benefactor of Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, insured thai the <br />citizens of this County had access to the finest health care available; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by other numerous areas of service to the citizens <br />of this County, individually and collectively, in countless ways and ways <br />unknown to most he provided the leadership and assistance thai has made <br />this County great; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS OF CABARRUS COUNTY: <br /> <br /> Section I. That in the death of Charles Albert Cannon <br />Cabarrus County has lost one of its most distinguished citizens. <br /> <br /> Section II. That the Board of Commissioners expresses its <br />sympathy to the family of Mr. Cannon and its gratit'ude for his life and <br />contributions. <br /> <br /> <br />
