RESOLUTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is necessary that ambulance service for the citizens of <br /> <br />Cabarrus County be maintained and be ~reasonably available for said citizens; <br /> <br />and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the persons using said services should be expected to pay a <br /> <br />reasonable sum for said services, if financially able; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is necessary for Cabarrus County to supplement the income <br /> <br />of the private agency furnishing said services to insure that said ambulance <br /> <br />services are available; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has become exceedingly difficult for said private agency <br /> <br />to collect the charges for said services in many cases, causing the citizens <br /> <br />of Cabarrus County additional expense; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED: <br /> <br /> Any person who with the intent to defraud shall obtain ambulance services <br /> <br />for himself or another person or persons without intending at the time of <br />obtaining such services to pay a reasonable charge therefor, if financially <br />able, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed <br />Fifty Dollars ($50.00), imprisonment for not more than thirty (30) days, <br />or both. <br /> <br /> If a person or persons obtaining s~ch services willfully fails to pay <br /> <br />for the services within a period of ninety (90) days after request for <br />payment, such failure shall raise a presumption that the services were <br />obtained with the intention to defraud and with the intention not to pay <br />therefor. <br /> <br /> <br />
