Section 3. From the canvass so made by this Board it is determined and declared: <br /> <br /> (a) That 27,744 voters were registered and qualified to vote. <br /> <br /> (b) That at said election 3,143 votes were cast for the order authorizing the <br /> <br />County of Cabarrus to contract a debt and in evidence thereof to issue not exceeding <br />$1,500,000 County Courthouse Bonds for the purpose of providing funds, with any <br />other available funds, for constructing and equipping a new County Courthouse and <br />the acquisition of any necessary land and rights of way, and authorizing the levy and <br />collection of a sufficient tax for the payment of the principal of and the interest <br />on said bonds, and 2,835 votes were cast against said order, that a majority of the <br />qualified voters of said County who voted thereon at said election voted in favor <br />of said order, and said order was thereby approved and is in force and effect. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commissioner Gallimore, the <br /> <br />foregoing resolution entitled: "RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL <br />BOND ELECTION HELD NOVEMBER 2, 1971 IN THE COUNTY OF CABARRUS, AND DETERMINING AND <br />DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF" was passed by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes: Commissioners Robert A. McClary, Charles Gallimore, C. Frank James, <br /> <br />and John A. Hammett. <br /> Noes: None. <br /> <br /> Thereupon Commissioner McClary introduced the following resolution which was <br /> <br />read: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ADOPTING A STATEMENT OF THE RESULT OF THE SPECIAL <br /> BOND ELECTION HELD NOVEMBER 2, 1971 IN THE COUNTY OF CABARRUS, <br /> AND PROVIDING FOR THE RECORDING, FILING AND PUBLICATION THEREOF <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus: <br /> <br /> Section 1.
