Glenn Hawfield, Chairman <br /> Board of County Ooz~issioners <br /> Courthouse <br /> Concord, North Carol ~ ua <br /> <br /> Dear Sir: <br /> <br /> The following resolution is an exact quotation from the minutes of meeti~ of <br /> the E~ecutive Co~mlttee of the Board of Trustees of Cabarrus Memorial Hospital <br /> held on January 11, 1972: \ <br /> <br /> "On regular motion, duly seconded, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: <br /> <br /> '~LEHEAS, the Public Local Laws, to enable the establishment and maintenance of <br /> the Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, provided that the ,Board of County Commissioners <br /> shall also levy a tax not to exceed two cents on the one hundred dollar valuation <br /> of property for the maintenance and upkeep of said Hospital' and the ~ecutive <br /> Committee shall certify ,the amount necessary to maintain and improve, the <br /> hospital for the ensuing year; and <br /> <br /> ,~EREA$, it is the una,~i,m-~us opinion of the Executive Committee that said levy <br /> be included in the 1972 County tax rate to provide additional funds for the main- <br /> tenance and upkeep of and for improvements to the hospital; and <br /> <br /> .~E~EA$, the greatly increased cost of handling charity cases is more of a <br /> financial burden than the hospital can finance without direct aid from the County, <br /> as the certified free charity days for 1971 numbered approximately 12,?~2 Sm~vs, <br /> which cost the hospital more than $772,961.00, based on our average cost per patient <br /> day, not including an~ depreciation; <br /> <br /> ,q~OW, ~C~E, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Executive Coz~mittee unanimously authorize <br /> the Chairmau and the Secretary to request and certify to the Board of County <br /> Commissioners that it is advisable to include two cents on the one hundred dollar <br /> property valuation in the 1972 tax rate w~ich will provide approximately $6~,000 <br /> to be used for the ma~_utenance sad upkeep and for future improvements to the <br /> Cabarrus Memorial Hospital; and <br /> <br /> "BE IT FURTHER EE$OLVED, That the Executive Committee unanimously authorize the <br /> Chairman and the Secretary to request the Board of County Commissioners to make <br /> available in the 1972 County tax rate appro~mately $192,000, which would be the <br /> proceeds from six cents on the one hundred dollar ~opexSry valuation, said amount <br /> to be available only to the Cabarrus Memorial Hospital for charity work handled <br /> through the Cabarrus County Welfare Offices for charity patients at the Cabarrus <br /> Memorial Hospital, and this amount is in addition to the $6~,000 requested above <br /> for maintenance and upkeep." <br /> <br /> <br />
