117 <br /> <br /> The Board of Comauissioners for the County of Cabarrus, North Carolina <br /> <br />met in regular session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, <br /> <br />on February 7, 1972: <br /> <br /> Chairman - S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> Commissioners - Robert A. McClary <br /> C. Frank James <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> <br /> Absent - None <br /> <br /> Invocation was by the Rev. Paul Berrter, Trinity United Methodist <br /> <br />Church, Kannapolis, N. C. <br /> <br />Minutes of the January 3 and January 17 meetings were read and approved. <br />Commissioners McClary and James gave a report on their meeting with the <br />Concord Board of Aldermen and Cabarrus County Architect George A. Griffin, <br />to discuss possible future consolidation of services and future building <br />needs in law enforcement. <br /> <br /> After discussion, the consensus of the Board was that all members <br /> <br /> should now meet with the architect. The adjourned meeting for thispurpose <br /> <br /> was set for Friday, February 11, 1972, at 11:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> Commissioners received identical resolutions from the Concord, <br /> <br /> Kannapolis City and Cabarrus County Board of Education requesting <br /> Commissioners "to provide additional school facilities in the several <br /> school administrative units." <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield assured school officials the Board will give the <br /> <br /> matter "careful thought and study" but deferred action and asked Commissioner <br /> <br /> John A. Hammett to set up a tour of school facilities. <br /> <br /> In addition, Chairman Hawfield asked County Attorney John Boger, Jr. <br /> <br /> to check with bond attorneys into the current situation with regard to <br /> <br /> selling school bonds if such a bond referendum paa~s.~c ''~. ~' <br /> <br /> These three resolutions are recorded on Pages 107, 108 and 109. <br /> McClary made motion, seconded by Galltmore, adopting resolution <br /> recorded on Page 110~ declaring February 13 thru February 17 "Occupational <br /> Education Week in Cabarrus County." Vote unanimous. <br /> <br /> The Board received a request from Department of Housing and Urban <br /> <br /> Development, for Cabarrus County to participate in the Federal Rent <br /> Supplement Program. Commissioner Gallimore will look into the matter. <br /> Action was deferred until the Friday meeting, when Mr. Gallimore will <br /> report. <br /> <br /> McClary made motion, seconded by Hammett and carried, to adopt <br /> <br /> a resolution "Providing for staggered terms for the members of the <br /> Sanitary District Board of the Royal Oaks Sanitary District." This <br /> resolution is recorded on Page 111 . <br /> <br /> <br />
