120 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus, N. C. met <br /> <br /> in a called session at the County Courthouse~ in Concord, N. C. at <br /> <br /> 7:30 p.m. on February 16, 1972: <br /> <br /> Present - Commissioners - Robert A. McClary <br /> C. Frank James <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> <br /> Absent - Chairman - S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Cabarrus Civil Defense Director, Flay Kiser, presented a shelter <br /> <br /> allocation plan to the commissioners. He noted that this plan provided <br /> <br /> for 184,000 square feet of shelter space, or 10 square feet per person. <br /> The Board endorsed Mr. Kiser's plan. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Gallimore reported that negotiations have been under- <br /> <br /> way, concerning Fred T. Riley's return to Cabarrus County Government as <br /> <br /> County Administrator. <br /> <br /> Gallimore made motion, seconded by Hammett and carried, authorizing <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield to complete negotiations and proceed with hiring <br /> Riley in the position of County Administrator at a salary not to exceed <br /> $1,335.00 a month. This will become effective on or about March 1, <br /> 1972. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brown met with the Board to further discuss the possibility <br /> <br /> of providing space for Concord's police headquarters. <br /> <br /> The idea was discussad extensively with Architect George Griffin, <br /> <br /> but Commissioners took no action. <br /> <br /> Commissioners asked Griffin to study the ideas presented, confer <br /> <br /> with legal counmel, and present a proposal within 30 days concerning <br /> <br /> consolidation possibilities. <br /> <br /> Having no further business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> Clerk to Board <br /> <br /> <br />
