- ...'~he, Board of Co~nissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular session <br /> <br /> at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on July 10, 1972 at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> Con~nissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> C. Frank James <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> <br /> Invocation was by the Reverend Bill Sartain, Rocky Ridge United Methodist <br /> <br /> Church. <br /> <br /> Minutes of the June 5, 1972 along with the minutes of the special meetings <br /> <br /> of Nay and June ~ere read and approved. <br /> <br /> nOrder Authorizin§ $9,750,000 School Building Bonds~ was unanimously passed <br /> <br /> upon motion by McClary, ~econded by Na~mett. This resolution is recorded on <br /> <br /> page 153 and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> Albert Klimas, County Health Director, discussed the sanitary landfill <br /> <br /> and the recent fires. The Board authorized employment of a watchman to see <br /> <br /> i~ this would help curb the fires. <br /> <br /> Only t~o bids on the demolition of the Allison Building were received; <br /> <br /> North Carolina Statutes require three bids for County projects for which~:~ke <br /> anticipated cost ~ill be more than $7,500. McClary made motion, seconded by <br /> James to re-advertise and receive bids on July 24, 197Z at 9:30 a.m. Vote <br /> <br /> A group from the North Carolina Association of Educators came before the <br /> <br /> Board with a request that the 1% Sales Tax be used as additional money for <br /> teachers supplement. The Board explained that the General Statutes require <br /> that it be distributed according to the preceding years ad valorem tax. <br /> <br /> Havtag no luther business, meeting adjourned.~ <br /> <br /> Clerk ~f Board <br /> <br /> <br />
