Doctor Seth Bostick introduced the following resolution which was read: RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF CO1VI/VIISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF CABARRUS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SCHOOL FACILITIES IN THE SEVERAL SCHOOL ADMIN- ISTRATIVE UNITS IN CABARRUS COUNTY BE IT RESOLVED by the Cabarrus County Board of Education: Section 1. The Cabarrus County Board of Education, the Concord City Board of Education, and The Kannapolis City Board of Education have deter- mined and found as a fact that adequate school facilities are not now available in the several school administrative units in Cabarrus County to comply with the provisions of Section 2 of Article IX of the Constitution of North Carolina for the maintenance of schools nine (9) months in every year, and ihat it is necessary, in order to maintain such nine (9) months' school term, as required by said Section 2 of Article IX of the Constitution, to erect additional school buildings and other school plant facilities, remodel, enlarge, and reconstruct existing school buildings and other school plant lactates, and acquire necessary land and equipment therefor, in order to provide additional school facilities in the several units, the estimated cost of which is Nine Million Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($9, 750,000.00); this sum to be divided among the several units based upon the per capita enrollment of Cabarrus County students in each of the three units as certified by the State Board of Education for the school year 1971-72. Section 2. The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus is requested to take all necessary steps to provide funds for such school facilities, including, but not limited to the calling of a county-~ide election for Saturday, September 9, 1972, as provided by the General Statutes of North Carolina, and in particular General Statutes Section 115-121, for the purpose of ascertaining the will of the voters of Cabarrus County as to whether Nine Million Seven Hun- dred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($9, 750,000.00) in bonds for school purposes may be issued.
