Doctor Seth Bostick introduced the following resolution which was <br />read: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF <br /> CO1VI/VIISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF <br /> CABARRUS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SCHOOL <br /> FACILITIES IN THE SEVERAL SCHOOL ADMIN- <br /> ISTRATIVE UNITS IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Cabarrus County Board of Education: <br />Section 1. The Cabarrus County Board of Education, the Concord City <br />Board of Education, and The Kannapolis City Board of Education have deter- <br />mined and found as a fact that adequate school facilities are not now available <br />in the several school administrative units in Cabarrus County to comply with <br />the provisions of Section 2 of Article IX of the Constitution of North Carolina <br />for the maintenance of schools nine (9) months in every year, and ihat it is <br />necessary, in order to maintain such nine (9) months' school term, as required <br />by said Section 2 of Article IX of the Constitution, to erect additional school <br />buildings and other school plant facilities, remodel, enlarge, and reconstruct <br />existing school buildings and other school plant lactates, and acquire necessary <br />land and equipment therefor, in order to provide additional school facilities <br />in the several units, the estimated cost of which is Nine Million Seven Hundred <br />Fifty Thousand Dollars ($9, 750,000.00); this sum to be divided among the <br />several units based upon the per capita enrollment of Cabarrus County students <br />in each of the three units as certified by the State Board of Education for the <br />school year 1971-72. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus is <br />requested to take all necessary steps to provide funds for such school facilities, <br />including, but not limited to the calling of a county-~ide election for Saturday, <br />September 9, 1972, as provided by the General Statutes of North Carolina, <br />and in particular General Statutes Section 115-121, for the purpose of ascertaining <br />the will of the voters of Cabarrus County as to whether Nine Million Seven Hun- <br />dred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($9, 750,000.00) in bonds for school purposes may <br />be issued. <br /> <br /> <br />
