Williams introduced the following resolution which <br /> <br /> was read: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD OF <br /> COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF <br /> CABARRUS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SCHOOL <br /> FACILITIES IN THE SEVERAL SCHOOL ADMIN- <br /> LSTRATIVE UNITS IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Concord City Board of Education: <br /> Section 1. The Cabarrus County Board of Education, the Concord <br /> City Board of Educat ion, and the Kannapolis City Board of Education have <br /> determined and found as a fact that adequate school facilities are not rD w <br /> available in the several school administrative units in Cabarrus County to <br /> comply with the provisions of Section 2 of Article IX of the Constitution of <br /> North Carolina for the maintenance of schools nine (9) months in every year, <br /> and that it is necessary, in order to maintain such nine (9) months' school <br /> term, as required by said Section 2 of Article IX of the Constitution, to erect <br /> <br /> additional school buildings and other school plant facilities, rernodel, enlarge, <br />a nd reconstruct existing school buildings and other school plant facilities, and <br /> <br /> acquire necessary land and equipment therefore, in order to provide additional <br /> school facilitiesiin the several units, the estimated cost of which is Nine <br /> Million Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($9, 750, 000.00); this sum to <br /> be divided among the several units based upon the per capita enrollment of <br /> Cabarrus County students in each of the three units as certified by the State <br /> Board of Education for the school year 1971-72. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus <br /> <br /> is requested to take all necessary steps to provide funds for such school <br /> facilities, including, but not limited to the calling of a county-wide election <br /> for Saturday, September 9, 1972, as provided by the General Statutes of North <br /> Carolina, and in particular General Statutes Section 115-121, for the purpose <br /> of ascertaining the will of the voters of Cabarrus County as to whether Nine <br /> Million Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($9, 750, 000.00) in bonds for <br /> school purposes may be issued. <br /> <br /> <br />
