Frida if introduced the following resolution ~vhich <br /> <br />was read: <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE BOARD <br /> OFCOM MISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY <br /> OF CABARRUS TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL <br /> SCHOOL FACILITIES IN THE SEVERAL <br /> SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE UNITS IN <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Iiannapolis City Board of Education: <br />Section 1. The Cabarrus County Board of Education, the Concord <br />City Board of Education, and the Fiannapolis City Board of Education <br />have determined and found as a fact that adequate school facilities are <br />not nov; available in the several school administrative units in Cabarrus <br />County Go comply ~vith the provisions of Section 2 of Article IX of the <br />Constitution of North Carolina for the maintenance of schools nine (9) <br />months in every year, and that it is necessary, in order to maintain <br />such nine (9) months' school term, as required by said Section 2 of <br />Article IX of the Constitution, to erect additional school buildings and <br />other school plant facilities, remodel, enlarge~ and reconstruct existing <br />school buildings and other school plant facilities, and acquire necessary <br />land and equipment therefor, in order to provide additional school fac- <br />ilities in the several units, the estimated cost of which is Nine Million <br />Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($9, 750,000.00); this sum to be <br />divided among the several units based upon the per capita enrollment <br />of Cabarrus Country students in each of the three units as certified by the <br />State Board of Education for the school year 1971-72. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus <br /> <br />is requested to take all necessary steps to provide funds for such school <br />facilities, including~ but not limited to, the calling of a county-v¢ide election <br />for Saturday, September 9, 1972~ as provided by the General Statutes of <br />North Carolina, and in particular General Statutes Section 115-121, for <br /> <br /> the purpose of ascertaining the v~ill of the voters of Cabarrus County as <br /> <br /> to ~vhether Nine Million Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($9, ?50,000.00) <br /> in bonds for schoo]~purposes may be issued. <br /> <br /> <br />
