The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus-met in special sessi~ .'~ <br /> <br /> at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on July 24, 1972 at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> Con~nissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> C. Frank Jmes <br /> John A. Han~ett <br /> <br /> The Chairman announced that this was the date and hour fixed by the Board <br /> <br /> for the public hearing upon the order entitled: <br /> <br /> "Order Authorizing $9,750,000 School Building Bonds" <br /> <br />and that the Board would immediately hear any and all citizens and taxpayers who <br /> <br />might desire to protest against the issuance of said bonds. <br /> <br /> No citizens or taxpayers of the County appeared, eitherin person or by attorney, <br /> <br />to protest against the issuance of any of said bonds, and the County Accountant <br />annouced that no protest in writing, signed by any citizen or taxpayer, had been <br />presented. <br /> <br /> Following second reading, McClary made motion, seconded by Hammett, and ' <br /> <br />unanimously carried, that the ~Order Authorizing $9,750,000 School Building Bonds" <br /> <br />be passed. <br /> <br /> McClary made motion to adopt the ~Resolution Calling A Special Election". <br /> <br />Seconded by Hanm~ett and unanimously carried. This resolution is recorded on <br /> <br />page 155 and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> Gallimore made motion certifying Royal Oaks Sanitary District Fire Department. <br /> <br />Motion seconded by McClary and unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> Wo~inated to the ~a~e~(~raty C~mmm~ntty,~lelations Coamnission were <br /> <br />Dr. A. L. Barringer, Rev. Henry G. Johnson, RichardM. Koehneke, Emanuel Stowe, <br /> <br />J. Harold Nash, and Thomas E. Allison. Vote carried to accept the nominations. <br /> <br /> Hammett made motion, seconded by Gallimore, and carried to let Chairman <br /> <br />Hawfield set the term to be served. <br /> <br /> Bids on the demolition of the Allison Building were received and opened. <br /> <br />The bids were: D. H. Griffin Wrecking Company $18,500 <br /> Roger H. Russell $ 8,800 <br /> Parker Wrecking $13,790 <br /> Widenhouse Movers $11,300 <br /> <br />Roger Russell was awarged the contract on motion by Gallimore, seconded by James <br /> <br />and carried. <br /> <br /> McClary made ~otion to adopt the 1972/73 fiscal budget as presented by <br /> <br />County Accountant, WillimR. Wade. Seconded by Gallimore and unanimously carried. <br /> <br />The budget is recorded on page 156 and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> Having -o anther business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> Clerk t~ Board <br /> <br /> <br />
