The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in special session~,~ <br />the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Friday, December 22, 1972 at 10500 a.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> C, Frank James <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> <br /> Norman Pease, Jr. and George Griffin, Architects, presented the remodeling <br /> <br />of the exterior of the new courthouse. <br /> <br /> Gallimore made motion that the fees for mechanical inspection as recommended <br /> <br />by Charlie Irvin be adopted effective January 1, 1973. Hammett seconded.the motion and <br />vote carried. The list of fees is recorded on page 176 and becomes a part of these <br />minutes. <br /> <br /> Hammett made motion that the County negotiate with D. R. Steele to determine <br />whether he would want to extend his contract for the Sanitary Landfill for five (5) <br />months at the same fee basis and if not authorize advertisement for bid for five (5) <br />months. James seconded the motion and vote carried. <br /> <br /> McClary made motion that the Education Incentive Program be set up to pay <br /> <br />50¢ per month or $6.00 per year for each quarter hour up to 96 quarter hours of credit <br />toward a degree in police seience at an accredited college or university as this. <br />credit is earned. This plan is to be on a trial basis for a maximum of two (2) years <br />or until matching federal funds are no longer available, whichever is earlier; at <br />which time the plan will be re-evaluated to determine its continuance. Gallimore <br />seconded the motion and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Motion by H~.~.ett, seconded by Gallimore, to extended time for payment of <br /> <br />1972 taxes without penalty through January 2, 1973. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Hammett made motion to ,adopt a "Resolution Establishing a Trust Fund to <br /> <br />Account for Funds Received Under the State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act of 1972." <br />Motion seconded by Gallimore and vote carried. This resolution is recorded on page <br />177 and becomes a part of these.minutes. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield made a statement about the participation by Cabarrus County <br /> <br />in sewage disposal throughout the county.
