County Attorney, John BoRer, reported on the letter that the Board had forwarded to the <br />Cabarrus County Bar Association regarding a donation of law books to the New County Courthouse Law <br />Library bp Attorney J. Lee Crowell, Jr. No action has been taken by the Bar to date. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield presented a letter from the Onion Street CorporatiOn in which a request was <br />made that meals ruth&shed prisoners in the County Jail from the Hotel Concord be increased from <br /> <br />~ .90 to $1.00. Notion by McClary, seconded by Gallimore to temporarily approve the ~l. O0 per meal <br />for prisoners and to advertise for bids, to be received at the October meeting, to become effective <br />November 1, 1973. Vote was unanieous. <br /> <br /> The roof at the County Home Buildings was discussed by the Board. Architect, George Griffin, <br />has previously inspected the roof and indicat&d that the cost to replace the roof on the three <br />buildings would be 825,000.00. Coamissioner Gallimore reconmended that the Courthouse Committee <br />investigate the matter. No further action taken. <br /> <br /> The Board discussed a letter from the Mount Pleasant To~n Board in~hich the area concept had <br />been approved for Waste Treatment Facilities by the Town Board. <br /> <br /> Notion by Gallimore~ seconded by NcClary to appoint Mr. J. T. Gilmat and Mr. Joe Stallings <br /> <br />to the Concord City Planning & Zoning Board. Vote was unanimous. <br /> <br /> The Board discussed change order #1 that had been received from Gearge Griffin, Architect <br /> <br />for the new County Courthouse. The change order is a ~4,400.00 increase necessitated by <br />encountering rock at the New Courthouse site. <br /> <br />The Board discussed a letter written to County Health Director, A1Klimas, by the law rim of <br />Hartsell~ Hautsell and Mills. This letter was prompted by proceedings arising from a recent meeting <br /> <br />of Cabarrus Board of Health. The dealt with and Solfd Waste <br /> the <br /> County <br /> correspondence <br /> Garbage <br /> <br />disposal at the Charlotte Motor Speedway by the City of Charlotte and Cabarrus County. Notion by <br />H~ett~ seconded by NcClary to refer the correspondence to County Attorney~ John Boger~ for a <br />legal opinion. <br /> <br /> The Board discussed the fence behind the County Building at 13-15 Church Street. Removal <br /> <br />of the fence would allow access to the County Parking Lot behind the County Building rrm Church <br />Street. Action deferred untilEasternByoPass is opened. <br /> <br /> Notion by James, seconded by Humbert ao approve the follo~ing road petitions~ <br /> <br /> Additions~ <br /> Weaks Lane <br /> <br /> Cabarrus Woods, Sect&on I <br /> <br /> Hyde Street <br /> <br /> Road off Old Salisbury Road (Brafford Farm) <br /> <br /> Having no further business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> William g.
