The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular session <br /> <br /> at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Monday, June 3, 1974, at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> C. Frank James <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> <br /> Invocation was by Reverend Norman Snodderly, Interim Pastor at Centerview <br /> Baptist Church in Kannapolis. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the May 6, May 14, and May 28 meetings were read and approved. <br /> The minutes of the May 2 Board of Equalization and Review meeting were read and <br /> corrected to read Kerr Industries be valued at the 1975 revaluation rate. <br /> <br /> After a presentation by Architect George Griffin and Nancy Templeman on the <br />furniture and graphics for the new courthouse, Commissioner Hammett made motion giving <br />authorization to prepare the specifications for bids for courthouse furniture. <br />Commissioner James seconded the motion and vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary noted that several commissioner candidates had attended <br /> <br /> the regular meeting but none had attended the budget hearings. He asked that the <br /> invitation be extended again so they could become familiar with budget procedures. <br /> <br /> The Board briefly discussed the Urban Mass Transportation Grant and Commissioner <br />Hammett is to attend a meeting to obtain more details concerning the grant and <br />its possible uses for Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Gallimore made motion, seconded by Commissioner Hammett, to <br /> <br />attach the committee members and constitution and by-laws for the Manpower Advisory <br />Committee to the May 6, 1974, meeting. <br /> <br /> Charles Bost, Community Relations Commission Director, described the free <br /> <br />lunch program that would run from June 10, 1974, to August 16, 1974 that had been <br />carried on entirely by volunteer workers last year. He stated the program will be <br />funded by the USDA but that he would need some money for administrative funds before <br />this money would be received. Commissioner Hammett made motion to committ funds <br />amounting to $3,370.00 for administrative funds to be reimbursed by USDA. Motion <br />seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner James made motion, seconded by Commissioner McClary and carried, <br /> <br />to approve the agreement with the State of North Carolina for the Protection, <br />Development and Improvement of ForeSt Lands in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to change the regular meeting date for the <br />Month of July to July 8~ 1974. Commissioner James seconded the motion and vote <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield recessed the meeting to convene the Board of Equalization <br /> <br />and Review. <br /> <br /> <br />
