Commissioner McClary made motion, seconded by Commissioner Hammett and carried,

<br />that the next regular meeting be postponed to September 9, 1974.

<br /> Estus White, Clerk of Superior Court, swore in Walter Burr as Fire Marshall.
<br />
<br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to appoint Commissioner Gallimore to the Social
<br />
<br />Services Board. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried.
<br />
<br /> Chairman Hawfield called the Board into executive session to discuss the
<br />
<br />acquisition of land at the sanitary landfill and for right of ways for a sewer line
<br />
<br />to the County property on Brown Mill Road.
<br />
<br /> William R. Wade, County Administrator, requested permission to write off two
<br />
<br />items on the 1973 audit report that has been outstanding for over ten years. They
<br />are $576.40 due from other funds and $58.00 due from other counties. Commissioner
<br />McClary made motion, seconded by Commissioner Hammett and carried, authorizing that
<br />the two items be written off.
<br />
<br /> The Board authorized the rewriting and revision of the parking ordinance.
<br />
<br /> The Board decided to accept the states offer to purchase vehicles needed for
<br />
<br />the coming year through the state contract.

<br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion, seconded by Con~nissioner McClary and carried,
<br />
<br />to approve the Resolutions approving Plans for a New Health Center in Cabarrus County,
<br />
<br />North Carolina Known as "Project NC-486".
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, an application has been made for certain Federal and State Grants for
<br />
<br />the construction of a County Health Center in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, which
<br />
<br />application has been designated as "Project NC-486"; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, plans have been prepared by Grier-Fripp Associates, Inc., Architects,
<br />
<br />for the proposed "Project NC-486", which have been presented to the Board of Commissioners
<br />
<br />for Cabarrus County, North Carolina, for its consideration; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners for Cabarrus County, North Carolina, has
<br />
<br />examined the proposed plans and is willing to provide a site upon which to construct
<br />the project and desire to take such steps as may be necessary and appropriate in
<br />connection therewith;
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the plans presented to the Board of
<br />
<br />Commissioners for Cabarrus County, North Carolina, for a new Health Center which have
<br />been designated "Project NC-486" be and they are hereby approved and adopted for the
<br />construction of a Health Center in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, at a maximum
<br />authorized cost of Five Hundred Seventy Thousand Dollars ($570,000.00);
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr., Chairman of the Board
<br />
<br />of Commissioners and Chairman of the Board of Health, Linny M. Baker, M. D., Hewitt E.
<br />Moon, D.D.S., Wallace A. Early, O. D., and Albert J. Klimas, Health Director for
<br />Cabarrus County, North Carolina, be and they are hereby appointed to serve as a
<br />building committee for said "Project NC-486"; and that said committee be and it is
<br />hereby delegated authority to select a building site, to nominate an architect and
<br />to generally supervise the construction, and to make and execute plans for the
<br />removal of the old Cabarrus County Health Center into the new facilities, provided
<br />the Board of Commissioners for Cabarrus County, North Carolina, reserves unto itself
<br />
