The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in a special session at <br /> <br />the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Friday, March 28, 1975, at 3:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Roger G. Hinson <br /> <br /> William Irvin, Superintendent of the Concord City Board of Education, Roy Davis, <br /> <br />Tommy Williams and W. H. Farrell, of the Concord City Board of Education, appeared before <br />the Board requesting an additional $137,945.00 in revenue during the succeeding two <br />fiscal years for the purpose of matching bids that had been received following invitation <br />to bid on new construction in the Concord City School System. Motion by Gommissioner <br />Hammett, seconded by Commissioner Hinson that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, <br />to the extent that North Carolina law permits, agree to appropriate in the budgets for the <br />next two fiscal years, revenue in the amount of $70,000.00 per year for Capital Outlay <br />purposes to the Concord City Board of Education. Voted aye: Commissioners McClary, <br />Hammett, Milloway and Hinson. Voted no: Chairman Hawfield. <br /> <br /> The Board discussed a letter from Bill Hamann, Concord City Manager, which requested <br /> <br />the County to support the City of Concord in its application to the Department of Housing <br />and Urban Development, Greensboro, North Carolina, for funds available to the City of <br />Concord through the Community Development Act Revenue Sharing. Funds received by the <br />City of Concord would be.used in the Sidestown-Shankletown area. Motion by Commissioner <br />McClary, seconded by Hinson, to support the City of Concord's application to HUD. <br />Vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> The Board discussed a letter from Nancy Goodgame, Home Agent with the County <br /> <br />Agricultural Extension Service, for a 4-H Program which would benefit 200 children <br />in the County during the period June through August 1975. The Board was advised that <br />there would be no cost to the County, other than the cost of administering the program. <br />Motion by Commissioner Hinson, seconded by Commissioner Milloway, to approve the 4-H <br />Action and Adventure Program, 1975.
