The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in special session

at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Thursday, April 24, 1975, at 4:00 p.m.

Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr.

Commissioners: Marcelle Milloway
Roger G. Hinson

Absent - Commissioners: Robert A. McClary John A. Hammett

At the request of Boyce Jenkins, the Board proclaimed May 5 through 9 as "Minute

Man Week". This is to promote the sale of the special 1976 Bicentennial U. S. Savings

Bonds.

Gerald Hagler presented a petition with 331 signatures asking the Board not to

dissolve the Jackson Park Sanitary district. He felt the residents would not benefit
if the district was dissolved and that many had signed the petition to dissolve the
district only in protest of taxes that had been levied. Kenneth Cruse stated that
338 signatures were needed to meet 51% of the 661 resident freeholders. He wondered
what would happen to utilities in the subdivisions since they would not come under the
jurisdiction of the North Carolina Utilities Commission if the sanitary district was
allowed to remain. The taxes that had already been levied could be put back in the
district by spending the money at the Jackson Park Fire Department. William Covington,
speaking for the Cabarrus County Health Department, spoke in favor of not granting
the request for dissolution. After a lengthy discussion, Commissioner Milloway
made motion to table the matter until Tuesday, April 29, 1975, at 4:00 p.m. when all
Commissioners could be present. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hinson and vote carried.

Having no futher business, meeting adjourned.

o the ~oard
