The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in a called meeting <br /> <br />at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Tuesday, April 29, 1975, at 4:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Roger G. Hinson <br /> <br /> The Board discussed the future status of the Jackson Park Sanitary District. <br /> <br />Mr. Gerald Hagler, a resident freeholder and spokesman for a group desiring to preserve <br />the Jackson Park Sanitary District, appeared before the Board with a petition containing <br />291 certified names of freeholders in the Jackson Park Sanitary District and 15 names <br />not certified, f~r a total of 306 petitioners desiring to preserve the Jackson Park <br />Sanitary District. Mr. Kenneth Cruse, attorney and spokesman for a group desiring to <br />dissolve the Jackson Park Sanitary District, appeared before the Board and stated that <br />the Jackson Park Sanitary District will be inactive for some time if preserved, and that <br />the area is too large and unmanageable with its present boundaries. The Board discussed <br />the issues for and against dissolution; and on several occasions, asked questions of <br />Mr. Gerald Hagler and Mr. Kenneth Cruse. At the conclusion of a lengthy discussion, <br />Commissioner Hammett made a motion that the Board of County Commissioners recommend to <br />the North Carolina Commission for Health Services that the Jackson Park Sanitary District <br />should not be dissolved and that this recommendation be forwarded to the North Carolina <br />Commission for Health Services. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hinson and vote carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br /> Richard Wade, County Administrator, requested that the Board give him permission <br /> <br />to move the Recreation Department from its present overcrowded location in the old jail <br />to the Coca Cola Bottling Company building on North Church Street. The request <br />entailed the utilization of approximately 800 square feet of the Coca Cola Bottling <br />Company building at a cost of $1.25 per square foot per year. Motion by Commissioner <br />Hammett, seconded by Commissioner Milloway, to allow the Recreation Department to move <br />to the Coca Cola Bottling Company building on North Church Street.
