The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in special session at the <br /> <br />Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Thursday, May 20, 1976, at 4:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> <br /> Absent - Commissioner: Roger G. Hinson <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary made motion to apply for a bond for Chairman Hawfield for $100,000 <br /> <br />during the continuance of duties of signing checks and other matters related to the duties <br /> <br />of the county manager. Motion seconded by Commissioner Milloway and vote unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary made motion that we schedule the public hearing on the solid waste <br />ordinance at 10:00 a.m. at the next regular meeting and postpone until some future time the <br />public hearing on the minimum housing standards. Commissioner Milloway seconded the motion <br />and vote unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> At 4:30 p.~, the following bids for Law Enforcement Records Control Center were read: <br /> <br /> Patterson Business Systems, Inc. $6,178.97 <br /> Acme Visible Records, Inc. $6,349.58 <br /> <br />The bids will be given to Criminal Justice representatives for recommendation. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to a request from Sheriff Roberts, the Board said that if the state and national <br />convention expenses were in his budget he could go. <br /> <br /> Albert Klimas, Health Director, recommended that the Board approve the following bids for <br />moveable equipment for the new Health Center: <br /> <br /> Category Contractor Bid <br /> <br />A-Office Furniture Miller's Office Equipment $45,494.07 <br />U-Electric Filing Cabinets and <br /> Accessories Patterson Business Systems, Inc. 8,755.23 <br />Y-Office Machines <br /> Item Y-1 Addressograph Multigraph Co. 6,489.00 <br /> Item Y-2 Addressograph Multigraph Co. reject <br />X- X-Ray Equipment reject all bids <br /> <br />Commissioner Hammett made motion that the contract items be awarded as recommended subject to <br /> <br /> state approval. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield reported that Grier-Fripp, Associates had requested final payment for <br /> <br /> all contractors except mechanical for the construction of the Mental Health Building. <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to pay the final payments on the Mental Health Building <br /> subject to the architect's approval. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> A letter from the National Association of Counties stated that the Wastewater Treatment <br /> Facilities must be in operation before it could be considered for the achievement award. <br /> <br /> The Board gave its approval to sell the old bookmobile that is being stored at the county <br /> school bus garage at public auction to the highest bidder. <br /> <br /> The Board decided to start budget hearings at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 1976. <br /> <br /> The Board will host the Centralina Council of 6overnment meeting in November. <br /> <br /> Mary Snead Boger requested $20 to pay bus drivers for bringimg approximately two hundred <br /> <br /> <br />
