The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in special session at the <br /> <br />Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Monday, July 12, 1976 at 4:00 p.m.. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Troy R. Cook <br /> <br /> Commissioner Milloway made motion to approve the minutes of the previous meetings. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hammett seconded the motion and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield announced that this was the time and place for a public hearing on <br /> <br />the proposed 1976/77 budget. Reverend Richard Koeheneke asked that the Board consider the <br /> <br />request for additional funds for salaries for the Community Relations ~ommission. <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary made motion that County Manager, Charles McGinnis discuss the <br /> <br />salary increase requested by Community Relations Commission with the City of Concord. <br /> <br />Motion seconded by Commissioner Milloway and vote carried. <br /> <br /> At 4:30 p.m., the following bids were received and read for the furnishing of uniforms <br /> <br />for law enforcement: <br /> <br /> Fligel's Uniform Co. Hub Uniform Co. <br /> <br />Sheriff's Department $ 6,757.50 $ 6,410.00 <br />Kannapolis Police Department 6~143.55 5~895.00 <br /> <br />Total Bids $12,901.05 $12,305.00 <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary made motion to award the bid to the iow bidder, Hub Uniform <br /> <br />Company provided Attorney John Boger and County Manager, Charles McGinnis, determine the <br /> <br />bid to be in proper order. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hammett and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Wayne Strickland, speaking for the Cabarrus County Classroom Teachers Association, <br /> <br />asked that the requemt for teachers supplement increase be included in the budget. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to amend the budget as presented by the finance <br /> <br />officer. Motion seconded by Commissioner Milloway and vote carried with Commissioner <br /> <br />Cook abstaining. <br /> <br /> Commissioner H~ett made motion to adopt the budget as amended in accordance with the <br /> <br />budget ordinance. Commissioner McClary seconded the motion and vote carried with Commissioner <br /> <br />Cook abstaining. <br /> <br /> BUDGET ORDINANCE <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County, North Carolina <br /> <br /> Section 1. The following amounts are hereby appropriated in the General Fund for the <br /> <br />operation of the county government and its activities for the fisaal year beginning July 1, <br />1976, and ending June 30, 1977, in accordance with the chart of accounts heretofore <br />established for this county: <br /> <br /> Administration $ 139,764 <br /> Elections 43,000 <br /> Tax Listing 132,363 <br /> Tax Collection 60,278 <br /> Legal 4,000 <br /> Register of Deeds 64,591 <br /> Planning & Zoning 29,825 <br /> Public Buildings 138,700 <br /> Sheriff 1,291,885 <br /> Court Facilities 15,000 <br /> Jail 106,100 <br /> Civil Preparedness 17,990 <br /> Fire Protection 23,865 <br /> <br /> <br />
