43 <br /> <br /> The'Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in special <br />session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Tuesday, June 21, 1977 <br /> <br />at 9:30 a.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Troy R. Cook <br /> <br /> Carol Cooke, representing the Council on the Status of Women, requested <br /> <br />funding in the amount of $650.00. <br /> <br /> A Study of the cost of maintenance and operation of the county's vehicles <br /> <br />is to be' made over the next six months to help determine the need for a garage. <br /> <br /> Architect George Griffin presented sketches for Building "C". This building <br />will house Veterans Service, Board of Elections, Nutrition for the Elderly, <br />Recreation and temporarily Civil Preparedness. Commissioner Milloway made motion <br />authorizing George Griffin to proceed with plans for Building "C". Motion seconded <br />by Commissioner Hammett and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Architect Griffin also reported that the outside doors leading into law <br />enforcement need to be replaced. Heavy duty aluminum doors and stops set in the <br />concrete can be purchase and installed. The Board authorized that this be done. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Milloway made motion to consider changing the regular meeting <br />date in July. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hammett and vote unanimously <br />carried. Commissioner Hammett made motion to reschedule the regular meeting for <br />July to Tuesday, July 12, 1977 at 9:30 a.m. Motion seconded by Commissioner Cook <br />and vote unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commissioner Hammett and <br /> unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Board of Commissioners of the County of Cabarrus herein called <br /> the "Applicant" has thoroughly considered the problem addressed in the subgrant <br /> application entitled Crime Prevention Officer and has reviewed the project described <br /> in the application; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under the terms of Public Law 90-351 as amended, the United States <br /> of America has authorized the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, through <br /> the North Carolina Law and Order Section to make federal grants to assist local <br /> governments in the improvement of the criminal justice system, <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT }~SOLVED BY THE Board of Commissioners of the County of <br /> Cabarrus in open meeting assembled in the city of Concord, North Carolina, this <br /> 21st day of June, 1977, as follows: <br /> 1.That the project referenced above is in the best interest of the <br /> Applicant and the general public. <br /> 2. That J. B. Roberts, Jr., Sheriff be authorized to file, in behalf of the <br /> Applicant, an application in the form prescribed by the Law and Order <br /> Section for a subgrant in the amount of $3,104.00 to be made to the <br /> Applicant to assist in defraying the cost of the project described in <br /> the application. This individual shall act as the authorized repres- <br /> entative of the Applicant in connection with all aspects of the <br /> application process. <br /> 3. That if the subgrant is made, the applicant shall provide or make <br /> arrangements to provide, a local cash matching contribution in the <br /> amount of $9,062.00 as required by the most current guidelines. <br /> 4. That to the full extent the law allows, the applicant agrees that upon <br /> submission of an application for this subgrant, the applicant intends <br /> to continue the program at its own expense and to appropriate funds <br /> therefore subject only to budgetary limitations should the program <br /> be useful, effective and pertinent. <br /> 5. That applicant understands that approval of the subgrant application <br /> in no way implies or commits the United States of America, the Law <br /> Enforcement Administration or the Law and Order Section to approve <br /> any application for continuation funding or to provide any continuation <br /> <br /> <br />
