286 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Bonds <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed the following to the Parks and <br />Recreation Advisory Commission: <br /> <br /> Area Represented Lensth of Appointment <br /> <br />Mr. Larry James Kannapolis Sch. Dist. 1 year - expiring on 12/31/79 <br />Rev. Rudy Teague Kannapolis Sch. Dist. 1 year - expiring on 12/31/79 <br /> <br /> Mr. Albert J. Klimas was present to recommend that the County purchase <br />a mobile dental unit outright as opposed to acquiring the unit and equipment <br />on a lease-purchase agreement as had been discussed at the Board's meeting <br />on December 4, 1978. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Allen <br />with Chairman Cook, Commissioners Allen and Milloway voting for and Commis- <br />sioners Lentz and Bonds voting against, the Board approved the purchase of <br />a mobile dental unit and its ancillary equipment in the contract amount of <br />$73,809 with the understanding that the $16,000 appropriation for this equip- <br />ment budgeted in the 1978-79 budget be carried forward into the 1979-80 <br />budget which will include an additional appropriation of $57,809 to cover <br />the contract purchase price. <br /> Mr. George Griffin, County Architect, presented an architectural rend- <br />ering of the proposed renovation of the Law Library in the Courthouse for <br />the purpose of adding three Judicial Chambers. He stated that the Superior <br />Court Judge James C. Davis had approved his drawings as appropriate to the <br />Court's needs. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Allen <br />and unanimously carried, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners requests <br />that the Legislative Delegation for Cabarrus County be requested to introduce <br />a bill to rescind the action of the General Assembly establishing Judicial <br />Districts 19A and 19B. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the remodeling of the Courthouse <br />Law Library, appropriating $8,500 from Commissioners' Contingency Fund to <br />Court Facilities', at a cost distribution as follows: <br /> <br />Electrical $ 400 <br />Mechanical $1,500 <br />General Construction $4,000 <br />Book Case Credenza $1,500 <br />Office Furniture $1,100 <br /> <br />$8,500 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to table until the next regular <br />meeting consideration of adoption of the "Suggested Rules of Procedure for <br />the Board of County Commissioners" as prepared by Bonnie E. Davis for the <br />North Carolina Institute of Government. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz <br />and unanimously carried, the Board moved to table until the next regular <br />meeting an agenda item entitled "Status Offenders Grant Funds". <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved a resolution adding Carving Tree <br />Drive to the State maintained Secondary Road System. <br /> Chairman Cook requested that the County Attorney, Mr. John Boger, check <br />into the handicapped parking facilities in the County. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Cook <br />moved that the meeting be adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
