366 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Allen and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION MANDATING THAT BUILDINGS IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br />BE IDENTIFIED WITH HOUSE/BUILDING NUMBERS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County Board of County Commissioners recognizes <br />the need for a centrally organized and dispatched emergency service in order <br />that the health, safety and general welfare of the citizenry of the County <br />be effected, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the County Board of Commissioners recognizes the need <br />for a comprehensive county-wide property numbering system based on the North <br />Carolina Grid Co-ordinate System for the exact and quick identification of <br />property in the County, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this new property numbering system is now being implemented <br />with the assistance of the United States Postal Services. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, let it be resolved that the Cabarrus County Board <br />of Commissioners sitting in regular session on December 10, 1979, do recognize <br />the need for rapid identification of buildings in the County, especially from <br />an emergency service standpoint, and do decree that the owners of each <br />dwelling unit or commercial~industrial building identify the building with the <br />numbers assigned by the postal service. (This excludes persons receiving <br />mail by rural route and box number) These numbers should be at least three <br />inches (3") in height and be placed on the building such as to be clearly <br />visible from the roadway, at or near the main entrance facing the principal <br />roadway. Property owners are to have the numbers posted as described above <br />within thirty (30) days after notification from the postal service of the <br />new address. Ward <br />Kristen Weaver <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved a budget amendment for the <br />Department of Social Services in the amount of $153,967.00 to provide for the <br />Energy Crisis Assistance Program. These funds are provided by the State <br />Economic Opportunity Office and would involve no County funds. <br /> Mr. John Boger, County Attorney, reported that a request for dismissal had <br />been filed in the lawsuit involving the Kannapolis police officer. <br /> <br /> <br />
