470 Section 9. Penalties. Violation of any of the provisions of this article by any person shall constitute a misdemeanor and, upon convication, a violator shall be punished by a fine not to exceed Fifty Dollars ($50.00) or imprisoned for not more than thirty (30) days. Each and every violation shall constitute a separate and distinct offense. Section 10. Effective Date. This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after its adoption. Bonds Chairman Chairman Bonds stated that this was the day and hour scheduled for a public hearing for the naming of an Unnamed Road to Dewitt Drive and asked if anyone were present who wished to speak for or against this road name change. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following road name change - Unnamed Road to Dewitt Drive. Mr. H. C. Whitley, Fire Chief of the Georgewille Volunteer Fire Department and resident of Mission Road in Cabarrus County, requested that the Board change the nmme of this street to Mauney Road to eliminate the confusion that often occurs between this road and the Mission Road located in Stanly County. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Chairman Bonds and unanimously carried, the Board set a public hearing for 10:00 A.M. on January 5, 1981 for the following road name changes: Mission Road to Briarwood Circle to Mauney Road Sagebrush Circle UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Payne and unanimously carried, the Board approved the addition of Shore View Drive in Lake Shore Estates to the state road system. Commissioner Cook made the motion to instruct the County Manager to proceed with any changes to the telephone systems in County offices which will reduce the cost of telephone service for the County as recommended in a report submitted by the Concord Telephone Company after completing a survey of all County departments. Motion was seconded by Chairman Bonds. UPON SUBSTITUTE MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Nash and unanimously carried, the Board agreed to table discussion of telephone systems for County offices until the January 5, 1981 meeting. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and unanimously carried, the Board amended the minutes of November 10, 1980 to read as follows: That the Thoroughfare Plan as shown on a map entitled THE KAN-LA-CON THOROUGHFARE PLAN, dated September 17, 1980, and prepared by Cabarrus County in conjunction with members of the Kan-la-con area and the Planning and Research Branch, North Carolina Department of Transportation be approved and adopted as a guide in the development of the street and highway system in the Kan-la-con urban area and the same is hereby recommended to the North Carolina Board of Transportation for its subsequent adoption. UPON MOTION of Chairman Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Cook and unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Executive Session to discuss a personnel matter. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Chairman Bonds and unanimously carried, the Board moved to terminate the Executive Session. Chairman Bonds reported that the Board had discussed the procedure for filling the vacant position of Data Processing Manager. He stated that an advertisement for this position would be placed in the local newspapers. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. Clerk to the Board
