186 <br /> <br /> The following persons were nominated for appointment to the Senior <br />Citizens Advisory Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Perry Steen <br />Mr. Grady S. Carpenter <br />Mrs. Smoot Lyles <br /> <br />Mr. Emanuel Stowe <br />Mr. Leon Martin <br />Ms. Willie Mae Roddy <br /> <br /> After voting on each of the nominees, the Board reappointed Ms. Willie <br />Mae Roddy to a full three-year term on the Senior Citizens Advisory Council <br />and appointed Messrs. Perry Steen and Grady S. Carpenter to the Council <br />for a three-year term. The appointments will expire on November 1, 1985. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Nash, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />unanimously carried, the Board selected Carter-Goble and Associates to <br />conduct the KANLACON Transit Feasibility Study. Funding in the amount of <br />$18,000.00 for this study is provided by a Federal Urban Mass Transit <br />Administration Grant with no local money required for carrying out this <br />study. <br /> Commissioner Lentz reported that Mr. Lewis Williams who was appointed <br />to the Board of Health on October 4, 1982, had agreed to resign his previous <br />appointment to the Mt. Pleasant Planning and Zoning Board if the Board of <br />Commissioners so desired. The Board requested that Mr. Williams resign <br />this appointment to the Mt. Pleasant Planning and Zoning'Board in accordance <br />with the policy for appointments to boards, commissions, and committees <br />adopted by the Board. <br /> The Board reviewed the resolution adopted by the House Committee on <br />Public Works and Transportation authorizing the Board of Engineers for <br />Rivers and Harbors to conduct a study of the Yadkin-Pee Dee River with <br />particular emphasis on the multipurpose reservoirs on Rocky River to <br />determine what measures are necessary at this time to provide flood control, <br />water supply, hydroelectric power, and other allied purposes in North <br />Carolina. It was noted that Representative W. G. Hefner had requested this <br />action by the House Committee. The Board requested that Chairman Bonds <br />address a letter to Representative Hefner expressing the Board's appreciation <br />for his efforts in this matter. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
